Bagels of puff pastry - the taste of childhood

Probably, almost to each in childhood our beloved grandmothers prepared fragrant and tasty cookies of small sizes - bagels of puff pastry with cherry or apple jam. The stuffing for this delicacy can be picked up absolutely any: it can be condensed milk, fresh fruit, cottage cheese, jam and even chocolate. If you already use the ready-made puff pastry, then you can cook this delicacy quite simply and quickly.

Sweet pastry made from puff pastry is an excellent treat for friends and guests, it will not leave anyone indifferent, and especially will please children.


For preparation we need:

- puff pastry (preferably yeast) - 250 grams;
- a small amount of flour (about two tablespoons);
- one egg;
- six teaspoons of sugar with a slide;
- jam or berries for filling.

The puff pastry is pre-thawed. On the table where we will roll it, pour a small amount of flour. So the dough will not stick and tear, it will be much easier to give it the right shape. The ready-made puff dough in the package is sold in sheets, and in order to blind the bagels, a circle is needed, so the sheets need to be folded into one lump, and then rolled into a large circle. Do not roll it too thin, otherwise it will constantly tear. The thickness should be about three to four millimeters.

Further, the rolled circle should be divided into sectors. Cut it from the center to the edges. The outer edge should be the widest, the number of sectors depends on how big the circle you got. Leaving about a centimeter from the wide edge, we spread the filling. If you prefer fresh fruit, note that there should not be a lot of liquid in the filling, otherwise it will spread and it can burn at baking, and it will ruin your bagels from puff pastry.

The next step: our triangles with the filling should be wrapped in a direction from the wide edge to the narrow one. The oven at this time should be heated to 180 degrees. The baking tray is preheated a bit and carefully lubricated with butter or covered with baking foil. To make our bagels from puff pastry sweet and have a beautiful golden color, they need to be smeared on top. To do this, one egg is broken into one plate, and sugar is poured into the other. Each bagel is first dipped in a plate with a beaten egg, and then in sugar.

Bagels are laid out on a baking sheet. It is important to ensure that they do not touch each other and do not burn. After that, put them in the oven and bake for about fifteen to twenty minutes. But first of all, the cooking time depends on the characteristics of your oven. Watch out when the bagels start to brown, - it means that it's time to get them.

So quickly and simply, literally within half an hour, your bagels from the puff pastry will be ready. Before serving, it is best to cool them. If you have an acidic fruit filling, you can sprinkle sugar powder on top. It is best to serve tea or coffee.
