Archaeologists may have found the tomb of Tutankhamun's wife

Tutankhamun is one of the most famous and recognizable pharaohs in history. He ruled Egypt from 1332 to 1323 BC. E. And died at the age of 19. But even during such a short period of government, he managed to get a wife. She became Anchesamun, his half-sister. After the death of Tutankhamun, Anchesamun married his successor, Pharaoh Aye.

The mystery of the death of Anhezenamun

As you know, in the history of Egypt there are many secrets, and one of them is connected with the death of Anhezenamun. Despite her status as queen of Egypt, which she received through marriage with two pharaohs, soon after the second marriage Anhezenamun disappears from historical records. Since then, nothing is known about her fate.

However, the other day a message appeared that archaeologists may have found her grave.

Archaeologist Zahi Hawass, who is the leader of this expedition, hopes to unearth the newly discovered tomb. According to Live Science, the tomb, located near the burial of the pharaoh Eie, may belong to the wife of Tutankhamun (also known as Tsar Tut).

The valley of the kings where the tomb was found is a region on the west bank of the Nile in Egypt, where many tombs of rulers are located, and also there are burial chambers of noblemen. Here, both King Tut himself and Pharaoh Aye were buried, so it is reasonable to assume that the wife of both rulers could also be buried in this region.

What scientists have found

At the moment, Hawass is not sure if the recently discovered tomb of Anchesamun belongs, but he hopes to discover additional clues during the excavations. By this time, a team of archaeologists have discovered four foundations that indicate the existence of the tomb.

"The ancient Egyptians used to make four or five foundations when they started the construction of the tomb," he said. Also, archaeologists with the help of radar discovered a substructure that could be the entrance to the tomb.

However, before the excavations begin it is impossible to assert that the tomb does exist. So far, these are only assumptions.

Hawass will continue to lead the excavations on this site to determine whether the tomb is actually located there and whether it can belong to Anchesamun.
