Adnexitis, symptoms of the disease

The presence of inflammation in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, is called adnexitis. Symptoms of this disease, especially in chronic conditions, are often ignored or the disease can be taken for some other.

The causes of adnexitis, symptoms of the disease.
The main cause of the disease is almost always pathogenic microorganisms. It can be strepto- and staphylococci, Escherichia coli, Escherichia, a causative agent of gonorrhea, etc. In most cases, inflammation of the fallopian tubes causes adnexitis, the symptoms of which are similar to salpingitis. Infection penetrates ascending, hematogenous and lymphogenous pathways, inflammation can cause diseases of other organs, for example appendicitis. Inflammatory process captures the fallopian tubes and ovary, forming a conglomerate. In the future, ovarian tissue destruction and development of the abscess (pioovar) may occur, the ligamentous apparatus of the uterus is involved in the process. Distinguish acute form, subacute and chronic inflammation. The chronic form of the disease can develop as the outcome of acute adnexitis.

Acute adnexitis, symptoms of the disease
When pathogenic microorganisms get into the ovary, especially in combination with provoking factors (hypothermia, adhesion in tubes and ovaries, weakened immunity), acute adnexitis develops. Symptoms of the disease are characterized by a sharp onset, the appearance of pain in the lower abdomen, in the lower back, which can give into the rectum. There is a chill, the body temperature rises, there may be a violation of urination. Pain in the abdomen is accompanied by symptoms of irritation of the peritoneum and is therefore mistaken for an attack of appendicitis. The intensity of clinical manifestations depends on the pathogen and the reaction of the body.
When the chronic form of the disease symptoms are more erased. The pain is not so intense, blunted. The temperature does not rise or reaches the low-grade figures. Appear purulent discharge from the vagina. There may be malfunctions of the menstrual cycle, dysfunctional bleeding, problems with conception (secondary infertility). Damage to the fallopian tubes. Endosalpingitis begins in the mucous membrane of the tubes, gradually grabbing all the layers. As a result, adhesions and a coalescence process appear, and the pipe becomes impassable. This is fraught with not only infertility. Disruption of outflow of accumulated exudate leads to hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx or hemosalpinx. Pelvioperitonitis often develops. The disease acquires a protracted course with alternating exacerbation and calm of the inflammatory process.

Diagnosis of the disease
Any of the above signs of adnexitis are an indication for an immediate visit to a gynecologist. Obligatory diagnostic measures are: examination in mirrors, abdominal palpation, blood test, a flap smear and atypical cells, ultrasound examination, if necessary endoscopic laparoscopy.
When palpation, pain in the area of inflammation is noted, the enlarged ovary and the fallopian tube are palpable. There may be positive peritoneal symptoms. In the general analysis of blood, large leukocytosis, an increase in ESR. In the smear from the vagina there is an increase in the number of leukocytes, it is possible to isolate the pathogen, determine the sensitivity to the antibiotic. The ultrasound picture allows to more accurately determine the localization and prevalence of the inflammatory process, the presence of adhesions, abscesses,

Treatment of the disease
Obligatory antibiotic therapy taking into account the pathogen. Carry out anesthesia, use antispasmodics and calcium chloride. In the subacute stage, physiotherapeutic treatment is prescribed, therapeutic mud. It is important to visit the gynecologist regularly, avoid cooling, and timely treat diseases of the genitourinary system.
