What can increase ESR?

Erythrocytes are blood particles whose main task is to transfer oxygen in the blood to various organs of the human body. These bodies consist of hemoglobin, which has a red color. They are also colored by these particles. One of the most important indicators when passing blood tests is the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation (or abbreviated as ESR). Increased or decreased its level indicates any violations in the body. How to lower or increase ESR in the blood?

What characterizes the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation to the blood, what does it testify? This indicator indicates how quickly the blood is split, which is placed in a specialized capillary. Splitting occurs on two layers: upper and lower. The first consists of red erythrocytes, and the second - of transparent plasma. Measurement of ESR is carried out in millimeters per hour. The normal rate of speed in representatives of the stronger sex is 1-10 mm / h, for the weak half of humanity - 2-15 mm / h.

If this number is below the norm, then it is necessary to increase the ESR. The causes of non-compliance with established standards are most often such diseases as leukocytosis, hepatitis, DIC syndrome, hyperproteinemia, hyperbilirubinemia. It is worth noting that a reduced rate of ESR is observed very rarely. More often the opposite result is met, that is, an elevated level.

If this index is still underestimated, but there are no clinical symptoms that speak about the diseases, it is necessary to increase the ESR. How to do it?

Before starting treatment, it is recommended to conduct a second analysis of ESR in another, more complex and deep system. However, if after it the result also shows underreported norms, then other measures should be taken to increase this indicator. In this case, treatment should always be prescribed by a doctor.

Also, a deviation from the norm is an increased indicator. What can increase ESR, in what there can be a reason? First of all, this indicates that the body develops an inflammatory process. And it can be like a common cold, flu, and more complex bronchitis, pneumonia, pyelonephritis, etc. It should be noted that the more inflammation in the body, the more increased ESR in the blood is observed.

However, not always a high figure indicates an inflammatory process. Also, other factors may be the reasons for the increase in the sedimentation rate of blood particles: the loss of protein in the urine, the change in the number of erythrocytes, and much more. Among the possible violations can be identified such diseases as anemia, malignant formations, heart attacks, frequent blood transfusions , etc.

In women, increased ESR in the blood can be observed during menstruation, during pregnancy, as well as in some other physiological processes.

As soon as an increase in the rate of erythrocyte cleavage is detected in a person, immediately repeated tests should be performed. If the result is the same, then the examination and professional consultation of the doctor is already necessary.
