Why do I need a vapor barrier film

Steam insulation film is a material that is used to arrange roofs with different types of coatings. Its main function is to protect the heat-insulating layer from water vapor, which can rise during washing, bathing, cooking and other household operations.

In the Soviet Union, such material as a special vapor barrier film was virtually absent. On the roofs, at best, sleeve polyethylene film was used, and often only tar, pergamene or roofing material. New materials appeared after the construction of elite cottages, where the most advanced technologies were required.

Among them today are reinforced polyethylene materials of increased strength, which can be used for both steam and waterproofing. For a vapor barrier, a non-perforated film is preferably used. A fabric or a special mesh is used as a reinforcing substrate.

In some cases, when the insulated room has a high temperature and humidity (sauna, kitchen, sauna, swimming pool), a special vapor barrier film is required. In this case, it is necessary to use polyethylene films that are laminated with aluminum foil on the inside.

Such a material, as a vapor barrier film, the installation of which is not difficult, should be present in the construction of any roof. Because The absence of a vapor barrier layer significantly influences the thermal insulation characteristics of the room, because the heat insulated from the bottom has a higher level of heat outflow. The film is laid on top of the insulation on the rafters and attached to stitchers or nails. Overlapping must be insulated with a vapor-proof film. The joints should be sealed with sealing tapes. On top of the film, in general, waterproofing, a controllable grid for providing an air gap, a crate and the roofing material (metal tile, roofing iron, soft, bituminous, composite roof, etc.) are generally laid on the film.

Steam insulation film Yutafol is a classic building material. It is available both with an aluminum layer (Yutafol NAL), and without (Yutafol N). The material consists of reinforced mesh, laminated on both sides with polyethylene material. The film is suitable for equipping an attic space under a flat and pitched roof. The product is certified. The roll dimensions are 1.5 to 50 meters, the thickness of the material is 0.17-0.22 mm for ordinary film and 0.3 mm for a film with an aluminum layer. Yutafol is a long-playing material. It is believed that properly laid film will serve on average as much as on average any roof covering. And the inclusion of special components ensures low flammability.

In addition to optimizing the thermal insulation of the building, the vapor barrier film helps to save money, because Its flooring significantly lengthens the service life of the insulation.
