Despite the new technologies that fill the construction industry, ceramic bricks are still an actual material for the erection of walls, partitions, fences and arches. This is not surprising: it is durable, keeps the heat well, insulates the sound in the premises, and also does not require additional finishing of the external walls, if it is beautiful to arrange the seaming. Let's figure out how many bricks in 1m3 of masonry, how to find out the right amount of material.

"Dry" calculation

Before the construction of a house, a project is always created, in which all materials for erecting structures are laid. According to the drawings, the material is calculated, which will show how many bricks or other components need to be purchased, and also help determine the future labor costs, respectively, the approximate cost of the entire event. To minimize losses, both financial and material, you need to know as precisely as possible the number of elements that will participate in the construction.

Types of bricks

  1. Single (1,0) - standard ceramic red or yellow color with dimensions of 250x120x65 mm. Knowing its parameters, we learn how many pieces of brick in 1m3: without taking into account the seams and gaps - 512.
  2. One-and-a-half (1.5) differs in height: 250x120x88 mm. Basically, they are white "silicate" bricks, they lay the walls of buildings, when the speed of erection is important, the appearance of such structures does not differ solemnity. 1m3 contains 378 pieces of such elements.
  3. Double (2,0): 250х120х138 mm. The increased size of this brick allows you to quickly build objects, but such elements are not easy to install neatly and with a beautiful bar. Because it is often used for laying the inner layer of the wall. There are 255 double bricks in the cubic meter .

In the given data only the geometrical dimensions of the masonry and its elements are taken into account, but seams and gaps are not taken into account.

We calculate the design masonry cubic meters

When building walls, the bricks are connected to each other by means of a cement slurry. It is laid with a layer of a certain thickness, sufficient to ensure the adhesion and strength of the future design:

  • For horizontal - 12 mm (in some places it is allowed 10-15 mm);
  • For vertical joints - 10 mm (can be 8-15 in separate places).

When making gaps of this value, the brick wall will last for a long time, the masonry will be strong and reliable. With a smaller size of joints or an excess of solution in them, the strength conditions will not be met, which means that the risk of deformation or destruction of walls is high.

The construction of a brickwork requires a professional hand: masons easily and quickly erect walls, experience allows them to create seams of the right size without much difficulty. If you decide to create brick structures on your own, it will take much longer.

Now we calculate how many bricks in 1m3 of masonry, taking into account the gaps on the seams:

  • Single - 394 pieces;
  • One-and-a-half bricks require 302 elements;
  • Double - 200 pieces.

Now you can determine the number of bricks needed for the entire building, but only directly involved in the masonry.

Dependence of the amount of material on the thickness of the structure

As you know, masonry are of different types, the ligation in them is different. In addition, you need to consider the thickness of the wall. For small volumes, this factor can be neglected, with a large width, the calculation error can come out sideways and the material will not suffice.

Another way to determine the volume of bricks in 1m3 of masonry is to use the size of a square meter of the side wall surface.

For example, we will determine how many bricks in 1m3 of masonry walls are 5 meters long, 2.7 meters high and 510 mm wide:

1) Find the side wall area: 5 x 2.7 = 13.5 m2.

2) We search for value in the table - for a wall from a single brick the expense on 1м2 makes 204 pieces.

3) We are looking for a total of: 13.5 * 204 = 2754 pieces.

Similarly, it is desirable to calculate all the stone structures, so you can accurately know the required amount of material.

Do not forget about the stock

Ceramics - the material is very fragile, with the transfer to the mason's workplace there is a risk of breaking a couple of bricks. Also, losses occur when the stone is divided into fragments for spreading end pieces or complex shapes. Therefore, when calculating the right amount, consider possible losses and take the material with a margin - at least 5-7% of the total. When constructing complex structures or using the method of stump clutch, the amount of marriage increases to 15-20%.
