Window binders are wooden in your house

Window bindings are special constructions, the main purpose of which is to strengthen the glazing field. They can be used both in apartment houses, and in various kinds of economic buildings. In addition to actually strengthening, window binders often perform also purely decorative functions. The designs of this type are most often made of wood. In this case, their elements can be located both vertically and horizontally.

Main purpose

In addition to strengthening and decorative, window binders also perform the following functions:

  • Allow to open a part of the window for ventilation;

  • Provide better thermal insulation of the room;

  • Detain noise from the street.

What materials can be used for manufacturing

деревянные обычно только из бруса хвойных пород. Wooden window frames are usually assembled only from coniferous timber. This material is resistant to drying and durability. Usually for the manufacture of window binders are used:

  • Pine;

  • fir;

  • cedar;

  • spruce.

Often, for the assembly of similar structures, larch timber is also used. Install wooden bindings, according to regulations, only in homes with a normal temperature and humidity regime. In private housing, however, they are often used in the glazing of saunas and baths. In this case, it is desirable that these bindings are collected from larch or cedar.

The main varieties

переплеты могут по нескольким признакам: Bindings can be classified according to several criteria:

  • By design;

  • By the way of operation.

By design, bindings are:

  1. Single . Such models are usually used only in small country summer houses. оконный переплет одинарный о беспечивать не может. A single- layer window covering can not be reliably insulated .

  2. Double . In such bindings, two glasses are already installed on one box. Constructions of this type provide more reliable thermal insulation.

  3. . Pair . In this case, the construction uses an additional leaf.

  4. Double (paired) . ереплеты эт ой разновидности собираются из двух парных. The plexils of this species are collected from two pairs. This allows you to create designs with the best performance. отличаются стойкостью и жесткостью и гораздо лучше предыдущих разновидностей защищают внутренние помещения дома от холода и посторонних шумов. The paired window binders are distinguished by their stiffness and stiffness, and much better than the previous varieties protect the interior of the house from cold and extraneous noise. The standard distance between the glasses of such blocks is 53 mm.

  5. раздельные оконные переплеты . Double separate window binders . When assembling such structures, two independent doors are located in one frame, capable of moving both in one direction and in different directions. The distance between the glasses in the case of separate covers is usually almost half that of ordinary double ones.

переплеты бывают: According to the mode of operation, the covers are:

  1. Valvular . These are traditional windows, where you can easily ventilate the room.

  2. The deaf . Such windows close the gap constantly.

  3. Lifting . The folds of such binders also allow airing the room, but when opened they move in the same plane (usually upwards).

  4. Rotary . Such constructions for airing rooms are reclined to the side of the room.

Also in country houses are often used and combined bindings. In such models, for example, can combine blind and mobile elements.

Basic structural elements

Whichever version is used in the house, the binding will necessarily include a box. It is on it that all other elements are attached. Also, window blocks with a binder can include:

  • Leaf - moving parts of the window;

  • Bar stitches, dividing the glazing into several zones;

  • Window - small parts of the window, designed for ventilation;

  • Transoms - the upper deaf or folding parts of the window;

  • Reinforcing humpbacks, the use of which allows the use of thinner glass;

  • Midships - jumper between the sashes and transoms.

Also in the design of wooden bindings must include shtapiki. These elements fasten the glass in the sash. To improve the heat and sound insulation properties, window binders can also be supplemented with sealing gaskets. Actually, window binders are used with the help of fittings - pens, hinges, etc.

Window boxes

For wooden houses, this main element of the covers is made of wide thick boards. They are sawed into bars and installed not in a monolithic construction, but in turn. Large window bindings are usually divided into two or more parts in order to strengthen the impost. The latter can be horizontal or vertical. Fasten them to the box in the blind or through the nests with spikes.

The box box can be assembled with or without flowing. The first option is more expensive, but also provides the best performance of the binding. In this case, the blocks of the box partially overlap each other in the front plane. Binds of this design have better thermal insulation properties.

Window leaves

This is also quite an important element of the binding design. They are usually supplemented by windows of even small country houses. According to the regulations, the window leaf must necessarily open in the same direction as the window sashes. The higher this element is located, the better the room will be ventilated. But, of course, it is also not necessary to lift the window leaf too far from the floor. Otherwise it will be inconvenient to use.

What should be the dimensions

Window binding in wooden architecture plays an important role. The same applies to the construction of concrete and brick houses. While engaging in the construction of a suburban private building, one should, of course, also comply with certain standards of SNiP. So, according to the rules, the size of the windows should be about 1 / 5-1 / 8 of the floor area. Compliance with this recommendation will ensure normal lighting of the premises. If the house is located on a shaded area (for example, behind trees or large buildings), the window should be made larger. If the residential building is in a well-lit place in the sun, the area of the window sashes should be reduced.

What problems can arise

Wood binders are usually very long. But, of course, from time to time these designs require repair. Most often, owners of country houses face such problems as:

  • Loosening of the flaps in the areas of the stud joint and misalignment;

  • The formation of crevices between the leaf and the box when closing;

  • Decay.

Features of the repair box

Of course, rotten and cracked window bindings should be repaired as soon as possible. Otherwise, after a while the window will have to be completely changed. Very often in the bindings under the influence of moisture and heat, the box itself is damaged. Eliminate defects on it usually in the following way:

  1. Dismantle the glass.

  2. Carefully inspect the bottom horizontal bar and the adjacent ends of the vertical bar. In order to more accurately determine where the defects are located, a hammer is used. They carefully tap the beams of the binding.

  3. The rotten parts are cut with a hacksaw. In doing so, always use a square.

  4. Cut the workpiece of the necessary length from the new bar. Before installation, they must be treated with an antiseptic.

  5. The connection of new sites with the old method "in half a tree" is made.

If necessary, the bottom bar with parts of the adjacent vertical is completely removed. Further, the beam is made of exactly the same construction. Its connection with the binding is produced by straight spines. In addition, the junctions are strengthened with nails, making their hats into wood by 2 mm.

Elimination of misalignments and slits

Broken window binders (photo designs with such a defect can be seen above) are repaired usually with the help of special metal corners, which can be purchased at a specialized store. Fasten these elements to the joints of vertical and horizontal bars. Two screws are screwed into each side of the corner. The longer the sides of these reinforcing elements are, the more durable will be the repaired cover.

The gap between the leaf and the binding box is also usually formed due to the drying out of the wood. Eliminate this problem using a wooden bar. It is simply pasted onto the leaf from the hinge side. Do it right in the opening, of course, should not. The leaflet is first removed from the hinges and the end is cut to the fresh wood. The slat itself should be narrower than 1-2 mm.

Replacing the studs

These elements in the bindings also rot quite often. Replacing the stud is as follows:

  • The rotten element is cut with a hacksaw;

  • Cut out the nest under a new spike;

  • The actual thorn itself is grinded;

  • The element is smeared with casein glue and inserted into the nest.

It is desirable to make new studs from very strong wood - oak, beech.

The rules for the use of window binders in the house

Wood is a material "alive" and natural. The moisture absorbs it very well, and as a result, it basically collapses. Therefore, in order to extend the life of structures such as window binders, their elements must be painted or varnished. To protect the beams this finish will be long. But every time when washing windows, the state of the paintwork must be checked. If necessary, you need to carry out cosmetic repairs.

Of course, when operating windows it is necessary to periodically lubricate the hinges and other fittings. This will prevent the wings and boxes from loosening. It is also necessary to check the condition of the seals from time to time. As necessary, they should be changed to new ones.
