Whooping cough: treatment in a child

If you are increasingly beginning to notice a cough with your child, or its duration has already reached two months, and treatment with a pediatrician does not work, the child may have had a disease with whooping cough. Its signs are not much different from bronchitis, but whooping cough affects the body much more strongly, weakening it and affecting its efficiency.

Pertussis is an infectious disease, the first sign of which is a prolonged cough of 1.5 to 3 months, accompanied by cramps or bouts.

The causative agent of the disease is an infectious bacillus, which is in sputum cells or mucus of the patient. Infection of a healthy person is possible when dealing with a patient, when the coughing agent enters the air, imperceptibly penetrating the respiratory tract of a healthy person, as a result of which the latter picks up whooping cough. Treatment for a child, unfortunately, does not always begin in time, as many moms confuse whooping cough with usual bronchitis or sore throat.

Outside the body, pertussis wand dies quickly, so do not be afraid of all the surrounding objects that the patient is using. The most frequent age of children with pertussis is from 1 to 6 years. In the subsequent period, the incidence is much less frequent.

A slight runny nose, cough, temperature drops (normal in the morning and 40 in the evening), poor appetite and unstable mood are the first signs that your baby may have pertussis. Treatment in the child should be done immediately, so as not to bring the case to a loud and frequent cough, the tremors of which are often replaced by sonorous breathing due to possible convulsive contractions in the area of the glottis. If the cough does not go away within two weeks, common cough suppressants, soda inhalers or mustard can not only help but also lead to an increase in cough, which in the following period will lead to a seizure at night, during which the face becomes Blue, starts to feel sick, even involuntary bowel movements or urination can occur. Similarly, paracoids may appear, the symptoms of which resemble those in whooping cough, and look like this. Excitement, dust or even hot air can cause seizures, the duration of which sometimes reaches 15 minutes. After them, children usually get very tired, complain of pain in the chest and soon fall asleep. During infantile seizures, it is best to keep the arms in a semi-bent state, which will facilitate coughing and vomiting. If a syncope occurs, then apply a small compress on your head, and rub your chest with turpentine ointment or camphor oil (analogues can be used). Homemade warm milk will also help with the occurrence of seizures.

If you know about such a disease as whooping cough, the treatment of the child will become more effective and quick. Follow simple advice. First, it is necessary to often go out into the open air, of course, excluding contacts with other children. The room in which the child sleeps must be ventilated at least 4-5 times a day and make sure that the temperature in it is slightly lower than usual. When feeding the baby, use mainly liquid food rich in vitamins (if your baby is observed by a family doctor, he will tell you what it is necessary to prepare the child). Portions should be small in order to facilitate possible vomiting.

If all the symptoms are pronounced, the coughing episodes that cause insomnia, vomiting and poor appetite do not rest, as well as the body temperature rises, it is necessary to immediately call a doctor to exclude a dangerous disease - whooping cough. Treatment in a child in this case may require the use of antibiotics and bed rest.
