What is sweet potato and what can be cooked from it?

Potato sweet (sweet potato) in its origin has little to do with ordinary potatoes, except that it looks like it externally. It is white and dark in color. The latter kind after cooking acquires a sweet taste and juiciness, it is it that is used for food. Fruits of small size are more delicious than large ones, and the brightness of color indicates a large amount of useful beta-carotene. Let's see what can be cooked from sweet potato. Sweet potatoes sugared

300 g of sweet potatoes must be cleaned, cut each potato into 2 parts, and then cut into slices. Soak in cool water for about 10 minutes, then dry with a towel. On vegetable oil fry the pieces of sweet potatoes to a golden hue, remove the remaining oil with a napkin.

In a separate bowl, mix 4 tablespoons of sugar with 1 teaspoon of soy (soy sauce) and 2 tablespoons of water and bring to a boil. Fry 1 spoonful of dark sesame seeds and add them to the syrup. Then we take each slice of potatoes with chopsticks, dip into syrup and immediately - into cold water. The dish is ready.

Stuffed sweet potatoes

Four yams (i.e., about 1 kg) should be thoroughly washed and in several places pierced with a fork, without peeling. Coat each vegetable with olive oil and bake on a grate in the oven. Then gently cut off the tops of sweet potatoes of sufficient size, so that you can choose the flesh. Mix it with 150 g of sour cream, zest and juice of half a lemon, one spoon of green canned pepper and salt. This filling should be filled with vegetables, and put on top of a small piece of butter (no more than 1 tablespoon). Put the sweet potatoes in the oven and bake until done.

Sweet potato with tomatoes

1 kg of sweet potatoes are cleaned and cut into cubes, it is well mine, dried and fried in sunflower oil until dark. One onion finely chopped and fried in margarine until softened, after which we add to it 0.5 kg of minced meat (if you like fattier - pork, and if not - beef or chicken), salt and fry until cooked.

Four tomatoes need to be peeled off (for this it is better to first roll them with boiling water), finely chopped and put to the meat so that it is soaked with tomato juice. Put the potatoes in a cauldron or similar dish, top the ground with minced meat, pour the sauce remaining after frying, and cook until ready.

Chips from sweet potato

If yam is called potatoes, then why not cook chips from it? To do this, we need 2 long and thin yams, which need to be washed and cooked in a double boiler. Then we mix 3 tablespoons of flour with 5 tablespoons of water and insist 30 minutes, then add to the dough a mixture of 2 eggs, whipped with cayenne pepper and salt.

Boiled sweet potatoes should be cleaned and cut into slices no more than a centimeter thick, season each with cayenne pepper or curry, dip into dough and put in the incandescent oil.

Sweet potatoes with mackerel and beets

Take 4 small mackerel, remove the head and cut from the back. Remove the spine and the insides. 2 sweet potatoes cut into cubes and boil in salt water. Brew them until ready, do not need, enough for 5 minutes. Mackerel fry in the oven for about 5 minutes on each side. Mix the beater with 4 small beets, pre-cooked and cut into cubes, and 2 small raw tubers of sweet potato, add to the same 1 crushed bulb and a third of a glass of orange fresh. Pour the sauce over the fish.

Sweet potatoes with chestnuts

A kilogram of sweet potatoes should be boiled and beaten with a blender. Then add 300 g of sugar and 4 tablespoons of table wine and cook over a small fire for about 10 minutes, remembering to stir. Remove from the fire, you need to add 400 g of chestnuts canned and mix. The dish is ready.

Sweet Potato Soup

4 peeled sweet potatoes must be boiled in salted water until cooked. Then you need to drain the water, and to the sweet potato add a spoonful of butter, as much flour and brown sugar, and a half cup of meat broth and seasoning: a quarter teaspoon of ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon (all ground) and 1 tablespoon. Thyme. All this shake, add a glass of milk and boil for about 10 minutes. On the table, it must be served hot.
