The chum in dogs, still called Carre's disease, is a viral disease, usually occurring in an acute form and primarily affecting the respiratory system of the animal, its skin and nervous, as well as the digestive system.

The most common signs of plague in dogs under the age of six months, although often the plague affects adult animals. It is characteristic that ordinary mongrels have a stable immunity to the plague, but as far as thoroughbred animals are concerned, they are very often exposed to this disease. I must say that the plague is considered the most dangerous disease in dogs, which is difficult to treat, and sometimes even impossible.

So, what is a plague in a dog, how is it manifested and whether it is treatable? Interestingly, but the plague is a danger only for dogs. For humans and other animals, it is completely safe. As for dogs, they can get infected from each other through saliva, ears and mouth. A person, birds, insects or other animals can also become a transporter.

The first signs of the plague in dogs do not appear immediately, but after about 5-6 days, but in some cases, the symptoms of the disease can make themselves known in 10-12 days. In short, everything depends on the state of the animal's immune system.

The chum is actually a serious disease that is difficult to treat, but this does not mean that you can put a "cross" on a sick dog. If the animal managed to defeat the plague, the disease will never return. The thing is that the body will develop a strict immunity to this infection. Nevertheless, if the dog managed to bear such a serious illness, then in rare cases it remains completely healthy. In their majority, animals lose their hearing, sight, scent, etc.

Symptoms of the plague in dogs are perfectly determined by the appearance of the pets. As a rule, a mucous mouth begins to inflame in the dog, a skin rash of incomprehensible origin appears on its body, and pimples are often filled with pus. In addition, the animal very quickly gets tired, does not want to eat normally, and after eating, it almost always has vomiting. Often ill dogs are afraid of bright light and try to stay away from it. The faeces of a sick animal are a liquid black fetid mass.

If all these signs of a plague in dogs take place, it can only mean that the disease is at an early stage. If all these symptoms are left without attention, then the chum begins to progress. Then the animal will have other signs such as abundant discharge from the eyes and nose. A dog suffering from a plague can also develop a severe cough (with a pulmonary form). In addition, the dog will experience a constant thirst.

The third, final stage of the disease manifests itself as a severe defeat of the brain of the animal, resulting in a nervous tic, and then complete paralysis and death.

Therefore, if the signs of a plague in dogs will take place, it is necessary to show the pet to the veterinarian as soon as possible. And it should be treated even if such signs are weakly expressed.

Unfortunately, no effective medicines have been developed against this disease. Therefore, the treatment of the plague usually comes down to the introduction into the body of animal medicines aimed at maintaining the vital activity of the organism at a normal level. Often the dog is given antibiotics and a broad spectrum of action. In addition, during the course of the disease the pet must be "planted" on a strict diet, which for some time will have to adhere to and after the onset of recovery.

With regard to the prevention of plague, the timely vaccination of the animal helps, as well as the provision of its quality feed and proper care.
