Therapist is the main medical specialty

A therapist is a doctor who deals with the treatment of diseases that affect the internal organs. Because of the vastness of the "field" of professional activity, he must have a huge amount of medical knowledge.

The therapist is almost the main medical specialty. Naturally, she is on the list of basic, along with a surgeon, gynecologist, pediatrician and anesthesiologist-resuscitator.

The doctor-therapist is in fact a specialist of the widest profile. In addition, he has some skills in surgery, gynecology and other basic medical professions. The fact is that they are simply necessary to him, because it is to him in the overwhelming majority of cases that people initially address themselves. Often only because of this, the therapist can identify dangerous diseases, the treatment and diagnosis of which are the work of other specialists.

In this case, independently, he can produce therapy for virtually any illness of internal organs. If the severity of such diseases reaches a significant level and the patient is in serious condition, the therapist sends it to specialized hospitals / departments (cardiological, endocrinological, immunological, neurological, nephrological, pulmonological). In addition, the patient can receive referral for hospitalization to another medical institution if, in addition to the main therapeutic diagnosis, the doctor finds weakly expressed diseases of a different nature. At the same time, his treatment will be carried out after and, most likely, in a planned manner.

Also, we should not forget that often the receiving ward (receiving rest) erroneously sends patients of a completely different profile to the therapist. If during the examination and collection of an anamnesis such a doctor understands that there is no therapeutic pathology, then he is obliged to transfer the patient for treatment to other specialists. For example, if a person shows signs of a surgical illness, the therapist sends it to the appropriate specialist. If a woman complains about certain symptoms related to the genitals, and her other clinical manifestations are absent, then it is rational to direct her to the gynecological department.

Who is a district therapist?

This is a rather complicated medical specialty. The fact is that the district therapist constantly has to try to determine the presence or absence of this or that disease in different people in very limited time periods. If in the hospital doctors have about 3 days to make a diagnosis (although the treatment starts much earlier, especially if the patient has a severe condition), then the clinic has only about a general examination, collection of complaints and anamnesis at the therapist 10 minutes. At the same time, he is obliged to fill a huge variety of different documents. So the district therapist is a really difficult profession. In addition, after receiving him at the polyclinic, he goes on calls that came during his work.

Work in the hospital

In general hospitals, the therapist is a little less common, but still quite an important specialty. The smaller importance of this profession in hospitals is due to the fact that there are mostly more "narrow" specialists working here.

The therapeutic department of any hospital is most often filled with patients for 100%. This is due primarily to the widespread prevalence of both chronic and acute diseases, which are treated specifically by the therapist. This sometimes leads even to the fact that the patient simply does not have a place in the wards. In this case, you have to stack it in another compartment or even in the corridor.

In the hospital, the therapist is a specialist who is often called for advice by other doctors. The fact is that very little of a patient, especially aged, does not have chronic diseases, which are the field of activity of the therapist. In addition, he is often invited to participate in certain councils.

Who is the manual therapist?

The activity of this person is somewhat similar to the work of an orthopedic physician. A manual therapist is a specialist who treats diseases with the help of the hands on the body. The most popular skills of such a doctor are in those cases when the patient has ailments that affect the musculoskeletal system. Most often such a therapist is an expert who struggles with scoliosis, flat feet, osteochondrosis, kyphosis, intervertebral hernia and other diseases of bones and joints. This specialty is quite complicated, as it requires the doctor to have excellent knowledge of variable anatomy, as well as remarkable physical strength.
