Welding table with your own hands: photos, drawings

The construction of such a design as a welding table with your own hands is the right decision. Thanks to this you will get a place to work and practice. It should be noted that it is better to take metal to make the device. The tree will not work, as it easily ignites.

Where to place the welding table with your own hands? In the garage, they put him most often. The metal structure has many advantages. For example, it can be grounded, which provides the master with safety.

Welding table functions

Welding table with its own hands has a unified design. He is:

  • A work plane in which fixators for workpieces are present;
  • Ground loop.

What tools and devices will be needed?

Many are interested in how to make a welding table with their own hands. This article will describe the technology of the process. An important point is the preparation of the necessary tools and devices.

You will need:

  • Electric welding machine with all components (electrical cables, clamps, electrodes, etc.);
  • Pliers;
  • roulette;
  • a piece of chalk;
  • Ruler;
  • a hammer;
  • Three C-shaped clamps;
  • Hacksaw for working with metal for cuts at the right angle (preferably using an electric grinder);
  • Gon usual;
  • Gon for carpentry;
  • Nippers;
  • Tap for creating thread M8;
  • Machine for milling or turning work (it will be needed to remove chamfers from parts).

Make a welding table with your own hands can be different. There are two models of the product.

First option

The welding table with its own hands, the photo of which is presented below, has dimensions of 1100x660x900 mm. To make the design not too expensive and heavy, it is made of thick plywood sheet. Later it is covered with a plate of metal.

What materials will be required?

You will need:

  • Profile pipe 40x20x2 mm - 9.9 m;
  • The steel strip in the size 40х4 mm - 2,0 m;
  • Four M8x40 bolts and four M8-6 nuts for fastening;
  • One sheet of steel 1100x650x2 mm;
  • One sheet of plywood 1220x1220x10 mm.

All materials must be free of corrosion. If there is rust, then the surface should be squeezed. In order to make the welding table with your own hands, the drawings are mandatory.

Blanks

From the profile pipe with the size 40x20x2 mm, the following blanks are cut:

  • For the frame of legs and lintels - two parts of 1.1 m, two parts of 0.66 m, four billets of 0.9 m, one piece of 0.58 m;
  • Two blanks for foot bridges at 0.58 m;
  • One piece for a long foot jumper of 1,02 m.

Chamfers are removed by means of a milling or lathe.

Welding frame for countertops

  • Components from the profile pipe, necessary for welding the frame, are located and fixed by means of C-shaped clamps.
  • The frame is a rectangle with a jumper. To verify the correctness of the assembly, we recommend measuring two diagonals of the rectangle. The permissible error is not more than 1 mm.
  • Blanks under the frame are connected. First of all, a rectangle is welded, and then a jumper. First, a seizing stitch is used, then a continuous seam is used.
  • Protective treatment is done by the Bulgarian.

How to finish the countertop?

  • The corners of the frame are strengthened by means of overlays. For the purpose of fixing the legs and other attachments, a strip of 40x4 mm is used. Chamfers are removed. Finished parts are welded from the bottom to the corners.
  • To secure the legs, you need to weld the lining from the strip. In the legs, drill a hole D <6 mm, then make similar holes D = 6.7 mm in the frame and cut the M8 thread. They should be attached, then weld the side crossbars.
  • From the plywood sheet you need to cut the table top. It is covered with a sheet of steel. If necessary, the layers are attached.
  • All welding seams are advised to be treated with a composition against rusting.
  • Such a design, like a self-made welding table with your own hands, can be given a modern look. This is achieved through attached wheels. So the device will be easier to move. Castors need to be equipped with locking devices. On the table, you need to install additional parts to fix the workpieces. The holder for the welding torch can be welded to the upper corner. It can be made from a pipe of the desired diameter.

Such a construction turns out to be quite large. It is suitable for welding large products.

The second option

Welding table with their own hands can be done in a different way. The second model has a size of 445x750x915 mm. This design is distinguished by its compactness.

The right material

  • Two plates are 445x750x3 mm.
  • Four gons 25x25x3 mm, 76 cm long (their angle should be 45 degrees).
  • Four corners 32х32х3 mm with a length of 91.5 cm.
  • One tube D = 3 cm, the length of which is 7.5 cm.
  • Four supports for wheels on the thread.
  • Four nuts for supports.
  • Four nuts for connection.
  • Four lock washers.

Stages of work

  • The frames of the table top and the second shelf are welded. Two identical rectangles with dimensions of 76 and 46 cm are prepared.
  • The dimensions are checked. The permissible error is 1 mm.
  • Seam parts for the frame are welded with the seam.
  • The geometry is checked for correctness.
  • After that all the details are welded by the main seam.
  • The table top and the second shelf are welded. First, the joint is made with a seaming joint, and then a continuous one.
  • The legs are welded to the frame. Their fixation is done by means of clamps. They are put at an angle of 90 degrees. Joints are welded with a point seam.
  • Similarly, the legs are attached to the second shelf located at a distance of 70 cm from the countertop. After checking the geometric correctness, continuous seams are made.
  • Mounted wheel bearings.
  • A welding torch lock is installed in the corner. A pipe D = 3 cm long is used which is 7.5 cm long.

What precautions exist?

Everyone knows that welding work carries a certain amount of risk. To protect yourself from any trouble, you should follow a number of important recommendations:

  • It is necessary to ensure a full airing of the place of work. It is advisable to install ventilation with extraction.
  • It should be protected from electric shock. For this purpose, work should be done only with rubber gloves and make sure that they are not wet.
  • You need to protect your eyes from arc light. For this purpose, we advise you to use helmets and glasses.
  • Do not spray metal on the work table. Before welding, it is necessary to clean the place of work from debris. Especially dangerous particles are subject to light inflammation. If the work is done in the garage, there should not be a container with paint, tanks with fuel nearby.

Also, there are special means for protection, without which the work is not recommended.
