Doppler for pregnant women - what is this procedure?

Already born people are constantly surrounded by air and oxygen, so that problems with breathing occur rarely. Another thing is a child who is not yet born, extremely dependent on the state of health of the mother's body. After all, all the nutrition and necessary oxygen comes to him through the placenta and umbilical cord. Therefore, it is extremely important that the blood flow in the umbilical cord and in other vessels suitable for the uterus is normal.

Starting with the second trimester during the procedure, ultrasound is also performed by a doppler for pregnant women. With the help of dopplerography, the doctor measures the intensity of uteroplacental blood flow and finds out whether there are any violations. Sometimes an ultrasound with a doppler is prescribed more than 2 times for pregnancy. This happens if the course of pregnancy has some characteristics or mother suffers from certain diseases.

For example, additional doppler for pregnant women is prescribed for fetal lag in development, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, gestosis, multiple pregnancy, unfavorable medical history, premature ripening and aging of the placenta, suspicious results of CTG, and even in some cases.

If the dopplerography reveals a violation of blood flow, its degree is determined. In total, there are 3 degrees, and the degree I is divided into 2 more species - A and B, depending on whether the uteroplacental blood flow or the placenta is affected. If this degree is determined, which is considered to be the easiest, treatment is prescribed and controlled every 5-7 days. The second degree is characterized by a violation of both utero-placental and placental-placental blood flow. This state is already more serious, but not critical. Such a diagnosis requires a control study every 2 days. The third degree is critical, the child suffers from Hypoxia. This condition requires immediate delivery by caesarean section.

The first degree is detected quite often, as a rule, a gynecologist appoints certain medicines that improve blood flow, for example, drugs "Kurantil" and "Actovegin." Often a woman calmly wears out the pregnancy and gives birth, herself, especially if the CTG does not reveal any violations. The second degree, if CTG has signs of fetal hypoxia, and the gestation period is already more than 32 weeks, usually ends with an emergency cesarean section.

In addition, the doppler for pregnant women can accurately determine whether the fetus has a cord with the umbilical cord, and if so, how many times. Sometimes a two- or three-fold accent is also the cause of delivery with the help of surgeons.

In practice, doppler ultrasound of pregnant women is a completely normal procedure, which for a woman does not differ from an ultrasound, so do not be afraid if the gynecologist has appointed her.

For those mothers whose pregnancies do not go very smoothly, and they are terribly worried about this, portable sensors are sold in Europe for quite some time, allowing you to listen to the baby's heart even at home. Such a mini-doppler for pregnant women is popular, but in Russia it is still difficult to find this device. Sometimes it can be seen in women's counseling, but, probably, soon it will become widespread.
