Wafers are Belgian, Yashkin, Czech. Dessert for every taste

Their taste reminds us of childhood. They could be bought in parchment or by weight. Less popular they do not become, and the range of all increases and increases. The history of this confectionery is still not clear, but the name is invariably the waffle. Proceeding from some sources, "cookies in a cage" comes from the Czech Republic, others claim that their historical homeland is Germany and nothing else. There is an approximate date for the appearance of a kind of baking. Wafers appeared in the XVIII century and quickly flooded the whole territory of Europe.

On the shelves of our stores quite confidently stand Wafers Yashkinsky, which children can eat at a fantastic speed. This is a Russian product - it means good. It is not without reason that the Soviet Union was one of the leading exporters of these crispy products. But how did this product, very similar to cookies, attract so much interest?

The present variety of forms and tastes formed in 1958 Belgian wafers. It is this kind of baking that has developed such a flood of imagination from the culinary experts of the whole world. This year, for the first time since the Second World War, the World Exhibition was held, which brought the popularity of the "Belgian miracle" to a qualitatively new level. The most famous waffles in the world (Belgian) make only two types - Brussels and Liège. Let's consider, in what their differences?

Waffles Belgian a la Liege have a fairly clear history. Their appearance is due to the culinary Prince of Liege, who was asked to make a muffin roll for his Majesty. After a little reflection, the chef decided to excel and added sugar pieces directly to the dough, which surprised everyone. The taste of the baking was completely new with the original flavor, and the sugar turned into caramel right inside the wafer. A feature of Liege wafers is their shape (round or oval) and hardness of baking. They are served both in a cold form and warm. For cooking we need:

  • Flour - 400g;
  • Dry yeast - ¾ teaspoon;
  • Eggs - 2 pieces;
  • Vanilla sugar - 1 packet;
  • Milk - 150 ml;
  • Butter - 200 g;
  • Sugar (large) - 180 g;
  • Salt - ½ coffee spoon.

Warm up half of the milk (can be in the microwave) and add yeast to it. Cover and leave for 15 minutes. Milk, which remains, whisk with salt and eggs. The flour is warmed up with butter (creamy). Then we mix everything (except for sugar) and with the help of a mixer we bring the consistency to the state of the test. Cover and let stand for 30 minutes. Then it is worth the divided mass divided into equal 12 parts. Each piece should be rolled in sugar and then baked in the waffle iron for about 2 minutes.

Brussels waffles are distinguished by their softness and airiness. As a rule, they are served in a warm form and are sprinkled with chocolate, powder, fruit or covered with whipped cream. But most often they are served with bananas and strawberries. Wafers are traditionally rectangular in shape. Cook them from the following ingredients:

  • Eggs - 4 pieces;
  • Oil (melted) - ½ cup;
  • Flour - 2.5 cups;
  • Milk - 2 cups;
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon;
  • Dry yeast - 1 pack;
  • Vanilla or vanilla sugar.

We take the eggs and divide the yolk and protein. In the dishes we mix sugar, flour, yeast and salt. Preheated milk, melted butter and yolks add to the flour and mix thoroughly. Whisk egg whisk to a dense foam and add to the dough. All this is covered with a towel and let stand for 45 minutes. Bake it for 3 minutes.

Speaking about Europe, it is worth mentioning wafers Czech (pay). Round, large and crunchy treats that are served with an incredible variety of fillings. You can try them at any cafe on the "hiking trail". Taste is simply impossible and there is practically no chance to repeat it at home. Strange, despite such popularity and national pride, Czech wafers are not included and will not be included in the list of national dishes. The Czechs do not recognize them as their own, that's all. But they are full of tourists from all over the world.

As for Russia, most Russian people are more familiar with Yashkinsky wafers. The factory of the city of Yashkino, which is more than 60 years old, pleases the inhabitants of Russia with a variety of their crispy confectionery products. Let not the national dignity and tradition, but they are known and loved in the territory of our large state much more than the Czech waffles, Belgian and all sorts of other. Our people have something to be proud of.

If you want to make this delicacy yourself, there are many recipes for home cooking. Try it, you should like it. Bon Appetit!
