About the author and the work

The Soviet prose writer and poet is Emmanuil Kazakevich. The "Star" (the brief content of the story is the main theme of this article) was first published in 1947 on the pages of the journal Znamya. Like almost all works of this period, the book-story is devoted to the Great Patriotic War.

The author himself served in the reconnaissance company throughout the war years, where he passed from the rank and file to the captain. And it is not surprising that the work "Star" describes the everyday life of scouts, because their life was familiar to the writer firsthand.

Actions take place in Western Ukraine. Here in one of the local villages is a reconnaissance Soviet platoon. Scouts are commanded by Lieutenant Travkin, who is distinguished for his fighters. Training
