Emmanuel Kazakevich, "Star": a summary

Our article will be devoted to a writer who is not very well known today: Emmanuel Genrikhovich Kazakevich. "Star" (a brief summary of the work we will describe below) is a story that made him famous. That is why we turn to this book.

About the author and the work

The Soviet prose writer and poet is Emmanuil Kazakevich. The "Star" (the brief content of the story is the main theme of this article) was first published in 1947 on the pages of the journal Znamya. Like almost all works of this period, the book-story is devoted to the Great Patriotic War.

The author himself served in the reconnaissance company throughout the war years, where he passed from the rank and file to the captain. And it is not surprising that the work "Star" describes the everyday life of scouts, because their life was familiar to the writer firsthand.

E. Kazakevich, "Star": a summary

Actions take place in Western Ukraine. Here in one of the local villages is a reconnaissance Soviet platoon. Scouts are commanded by Lieutenant Travkin, who is distinguished for his fighters. Under his command were 18 soldiers, 12 of them were battle-tested fighters. The rest were recently recruited, and it was not known what to expect from them during the battle. Ahead of them was a meeting with the enemy - Soviet troops were advancing.

Travkin was a very young closed person, he was not always understood by his comrades, but nevertheless he deserved their love and respect for his selfless attitude to his duties and unselfishness.

Scouts go to a brief light raid, during which it turns out that the Germans are already close. Therefore, the division passes to the defense, and reinforcements are being pulled from the rear.

Training

With knowledge of the case describes the military realities Emmanuel Kazakevich ("Star"). The summary tells how the chief of the reconnaissance department of the army arrives in the division, who sets a task for the commander to send a group of scouts to the rear of the enemy - there appeared information that the enemy troops are regrouping, so it was possible to learn the number of tanks and reserve troops. The best candidate for this operation is Travkin.

From that moment, Travkin starts training with his detachment every night. He persistently drove his subordinates wade through a cold stream, forced him to learn how to cut wire correctly, to find mines and minefields, to cross the trenches.

A group of scouts was asked by Meshchersky, a junior lieutenant who had just graduated from a military school. He was a blue-eyed, slender young man of twenty. He selflessly trains, without complaining or retreating. This causes Travkin respect for the newcomer.

Have passed the last workout. They established a call sign for the reconnaissance group - Zvezda, and for the division - Zemlya. However, at the last moment the command decides to send an officer instead of Meshchersky Anikanov.

Raid to the rear of the enemy

The work of the scouts is portrayed as the game of a person with death Kazakevich E. G. "Star" (the brief content already noted that it was this call sign assigned to a group of scouts) after the last briefing is put forward for the assignment. Travkin is led by a detachment, to which they also joined as compulsory escort of a sapper.

The scouts managed to overcome the barbed wire and pass the German trenches. An hour later they were already deep in the woods.

The remaining troops gaze into the darkness, waiting for the signal of scouts. Here Meshchersky, the commander of a company of sappers and other soldiers gathered. To them every now and then approach other officers, asking if the detachment returned. However, there was no signal that would say that scouts were discovered and retreating. So, while the group is moving forward successfully.

Meeting with the Germans

The most important, but also the most dangerous military work describes the work "Star" (Kazakevich). The brief content of the story requires you to tell how nearer the dawn the scouts got to the edge of the forest and then unexpectedly met three Germans. The enemies were lying in the truck, and one of them accidentally peeked out at the moment when the Soviet soldiers appeared.

However, the group saved the composure of Travkin. He realized that they can not run. Therefore, the soldiers, without speeding up or slowing down the pace, moved on. The German stiffened from what he had seen - seven green shadows in robes passed before him, and did not raise alarm.

After that, the detachment crossed the meadow, and then Travkin was able to transmit the radiogram.

Captive and return trip

Continues to describe the journey of scouts Kazakevich ("Star"). The summary will not do without a story about how, after going through the swamp and forest, the soldiers saw the SS squad. Walking around him, they went out to a small house, from which moans and shouts came. Later it turned out that it was a hospital. The German, who came from there, was caught and interrogated. They learned from the interrogation that there was a tank division here. Travkin contacted Earth and reported everything that he had learned.

After that, the group advanced to the railway station. Here Mamochkin and Anikanov managed to capture a well-informed SS man. However, the Dove died.

Scouts stepped in the way back, but now the Germans knew about them and began to pursue. On the way, Brazhnikov perishes, Anikanov and Semenov are wounded. The radio station, which hung over Bykov's shoulders, was becoming unusable - bullets hit her. Now the detachment has lost the opportunity to contact the headquarters.

Decoupling

The story is coming to an end, which Kazakevich describes. "Star" (a summary is presented here) is a story about the feat of scouts who risk their lives in war most.

The scouts never managed to get to theirs - the Germans began to raid, took them in pincers and shot them. The commander-in-chief, who received information from scouts, realizes that the Germans are preparing a counterattack in order to prevent Soviet troops from breaking through to Poland, and ordering them to strengthen the left flank.

The only one who still awaits the return of scouts is Katya, a signalman in love with Travkin. Until the beginning of the offensive, she sent the call sign "Star."
