"Ursosan": instruction for use

The drug "Ursosan" is a hepatoprotective agent, in medicine more commonly known as urosodeoxycholic acid. This international name is given to a medicine in honor of its main active substance, which is capable of exerting choleretic, lipid-lowering, cholinolitholic, hypocholesterolemic, and also a kind of immunomodulatory action. "Urososan" is available in the form of capsules and suspensions for oral administration.

Among the main properties of the drug - reducing the saturation of bile with cholesterol (a decrease in the secretion and synthesis of cholesterol in the liver, as well as inhibition of its absorption in the intestine); Increase the solubility of cholesterol in the bile excretion system, stimulate the formation and secretion of bile; An increase in the concentration of bile acids, increased pancreatic and gastric secretion, increased lipase activity, and others. "Ursosan" also affects certain immunological processes in the liver.

- uncomplicated cholelithiasis (this is the dissolution of stones in the gallbladder with the impossibility of removing them by any methods);

Ursosan tablets are also taken for the prevention of various liver damage with the use of cytostatics and hormonal contraceptives, as well as the prevention of education during the rapid loss of bile stone mass in obese patients.

"Ursosan": instruction (contraindications and side effects)

The drug is contraindicated in cases of hypersensitivity to the active component, as well as in the presence of X-ray positive gallstones. In addition, one should not treat Ursosan with people with a dysfunctional gallbladder, a bile-gastrointestinal fistula, chronic hepatitis, inflammatory diseases of the large and small intestine, acute cholecystitis, cholangitis, cirrhosis, hepatic and renal insufficiency, pancreatitis. It is not recommended to take the remedy for patients with acute infectious diseases of the bile duct and bladder, empyema of the gallbladder, pregnant women and nursing mothers.

Among the possible side effects - diarrhea, back pain. Less common are increased activity of hepatic transaminases, calcification of gallstones, alopecia, dizziness, constipation, nausea, vomiting, exacerbation of psoriasis, allergies.

"Ursosan": instruction (application and dosage)

The medicine is used inside without chewing with a light snack and food. You can drink it with water. The dosage is different for each specific case and depends on the disease, the age of the patient and the purpose of the application. So, for example, with cholelithiasis, "Ursosan" is taken once a day before bedtime, with various liver diseases - up to three times a day for 2-5 capsules. To treat biliary reflux-esophagitis and reflux-gastritis take 250 mg before going to bed. Treatment can take from two weeks to six months, sometimes the course of treatment can last two years.
