History of the theater

The theater of the drama of Ulyanovsk was originally a serf. The troupe consisted of the serfs of the landowner Nikolai Durasov. Presentations took place in his huge two-story mansion. In 1785 N. Durasov donated his theater to the provincial nobility. Since then, the productions have become regular. On the stage from this time, not only serf actors acted, but noble people as well.

In the 1830s a wooden building was built for the performances. Outwardly it resembled a simple shed, inside the walls were covered with felt. In winter, iron furnaces were installed there for heating. There were not many places in the auditorium. His troupe was not in the theater. Each season there were different artists. The repertoire was selected in accordance with the censorship. Comedy, vaudeville, drama and excerpts from operas were on the stage of the Simbirsk theater. In 1846 a new building was built. The funds were allocated by Governor M. Naumov. The building was simple, but built with the mind. The auditorium was designed for 400 seats.

In 1849 a new stone building was built for the theater, in which the Ulyanovsk drama "lives" to this day. In 1899 there was electricity. The theater of Simbirsk was among the first to receive AP Chekhov's permission to stage a play on his work "Uncle Vanya".

In 1924, the city received a new name, under which Ulyanovsk. Dram. Theater and continued to exist. His repertoire changed somewhat.

In 1935, his own troupe was assembled. A. Verkhovsky became the chief director and artistic director.

During the war the troupe toured throughout Ukraine. Then she performed at the front in front of the soldiers.

In 1965, the play "104 pages about love" was staged in the Ulyanovsk theater. The performance was carried out with the participation of a young then playwright, who is known to a wide audience as an essayist historian. His name is Edvard Radzinsky.

In subsequent years, the repertoire included plays by such authors as W. Shakespeare, C. Goldoni, A. Tolstoy, A. Chekhov, JB Molière, Lope de Vega, Figueired, K. Gozzi, Sartre, and others.

In November 2007 the theater received the name of IA Goncharov.

Building

Its building appeared at the theater on November 3, 1879. The money for construction was allocated by Mitrofan Pryanishnikov, a retired staff captain of the Guards. The scene was made huge, the orchestral pit is spacious. The lodges in the auditorium were large, wide and hung on rails. The floor was asphalt. The halls and foyer were huge. Today, the drama theater of Ulyanovsk is headed by Natalia Nikonorova. She has the title of Honored Cultural Worker of Russia. She began her creative work in this theater at the age of 18. At first, Natalia Alexandrovna worked as assistant director, then as a director and later deputy director for the organization of the viewer. Then she graduated from GITIS in the specialty "Organization of theatrical business". In February 2007 she received a post of public relations specialist. In September of the same year she became a director.

Artistic director

The theater of Ulyanovsk drama creates all its productions under the strict guidance of Sergey Anatolyevich Morozov. A graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of Theatrical Art. Sergey Anatolyevich graduated from the faculty of "Directing drama" with a red diploma. After studying for 7 years he served as the main director in the Kostroma theater. Since 2007 he worked in Nizhny Novgorod. In the Ulyanovsk Theater, he holds the post of art director since 2013.
