Drama Theater. Pushkin (Magnitogorsk) was founded in the first half of the 20th century. Initially, the repertoire included performances based on plays by Soviet playwrights of the time. Today, you can see different performances here.

History of the theater

The Pushkin Theater (Magnitogorsk), photo of the building of which is presented in this article, began its creative career in the 1930s. At that time, the city was just starting the construction of a metallurgical plant. Initially it was an agit brigade, in which the best representatives of amateur performances performed professional artists - navvies, rebuilders, concrete workers, electricians and so on. Performances played directly in the shops, on construction sites, in hostels. In the early years, the head of the musical part was occupied by the remarkable Soviet composer Matvei Blanter.

The city committee of the Komsomol in 1932 decided on the basis of the propaganda team to create a theater of working youth (TRAM). He was the very first professional in Magnitogorsk. The capital's Small Theater took patronage over him. He sent his directors here. The first performance of a professional Magnitogorsk theater was the play "The Street of Joy".

In 1935, TRAM was transformed into a drama theater. In 1937, he received the name of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. During the war many actors left for the front. Nevertheless, the theater continued its work. The remaining actors created brigades and went to military units and hospitals to raise the morale of the defenders of their country by their creativity. In 1967 the theater received a new building. Years of the 1970s were marked by the fact that at that time the repertoire included performances based on the works of the great Russian poet, whose name is the Magnitogorsk drama, Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin.

The eighties were hard for the theater. And in the end, in the summer of 1990, it was closed. And in the autumn of the same year it opened again, but it was reorganized into the New Experimental Drama Theater. Its director was Vladimir Dosayev, who in a short time turned it into a successful one and introduced it into the number of the most interesting in the country.

From 1993 to 2007 the Magnitogorsk Drama was the organizer of the festival "Theater without Borders". Troupes from different cities and countries gathered here. In 1997, the Magnitogorsk Drama once again became the Pushkin Drama Theater.

In 2008 there was a big event. The staging of the "Thunderstorm" of the Magnitogorsk theater was awarded the "Golden Mask" prize in the nomination "Best Performance of Small Forms".

Today the Drama Theater conducts active tour activity, goes to prestigious festivals in different countries and invariably brings awards.
