The Carnegie Center, which opened in the early nineties in the Russian capital, was established as a subsidiary of the American fund of the same name. Its activity consists in evaluating and analyzing the socio-political situation in the world.

The first reins of government was taken by Peter Fisher, who headed the Carnegie Moscow Center from 1993 to 1994. His leadership was the shortest. Then Richard Burger, who held this post from 1994 to 1997, was appointed managing director.

In 1997, Scott Brackner took over the reins, which was replaced in 1999 by Alan Rousseau, in turn replaced in 2001 by Robert Nurick. In 2003, the fund was headed by Andrew Kuchins. In 2006, he was succeeded by Rose Gottemoeller and from 2008 until now he is headed by Dmitri Trenin, the current director of the Carnegie Moscow Center. The organization employs about thirty employees.

Directions of work of the Carnegie Center in Russia

The main areas of research are political changes, the formation of friendly interstate relations in the Middle East and Central Asia.

Providing the possibility of cooperation between scientists and politicians, the Carnegie Foundation makes available the solution of many social problems of both internal and external significance.

At a specially created forum, discussions and debates are organized between American and Russian scientists and politicians in order to determine the direction of state activity most beneficial for the world community and its changes.

There is also own publishing activity. The journals, articles, monographs and periodicals published by the organization are issued in Russian and English. The Carnegie Foundation is a worldwide organization dedicated to scientific research. It was founded in 1910. The Fund has sufficient funding, and this gives him the opportunity to conduct extensive research activities. Most of the cash flows come from the United States. In addition, funds are allocated by the world famous Ford Foundation. The work of the organization is aimed at stabilizing the political and economic situation in the world community, in Russia's domestic and foreign policy.
