OECD: the transcript points to world domination

Anyone who is interested in trends in the global economy is certainly aware of the existence of such an authoritative organization as the OECD. The decipherment of this abbreviation says that this is the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. This structure has existed for a long time, and over time its influence only increases.

Globalization of the world economy

The economic development of countries and territories was never isolated. But the degree of dependence of the economies of different countries on each other in different epochs was far from the same. In the process of development, interdependence increased and gradually came to a new level. One of the dominant tendencies of world development at the beginning of the third millennium is the process of so-called "global globalization". It is expressed in the fact that the economy of all developed countries can not exist and develop apart from world political and economic realities. This fact was recognized in the middle of the twentieth century, when in 1948 the Organization for European Economic Cooperation was established. This structure was the direct predecessor of the modern OECD. The name of the organization was changed in the sixties. This reflected the geographical expansion of the structure of the structure from the European continent to the entire world economic space.

Goals and objectives of the organization

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development does not possess economic, or even more political, powers. Its goals and objectives are not to make decisions directly, but to influence their adoption. The functions and programmatic tasks of many international structures are indicated in their official names. The OECD is not an exception. Deciphering the name of this organization gives an idea of the scope of applying the efforts of this supranational structure. OECD carries out functions of coordination of actions of the interested parties in a direction of development of economy and creation of the most comfortable climate for business. The most important directions of the organization's activity are unification of technical and tax standards, bringing national legal systems to a form that excludes contradictions with other countries in a single space for economic development. Work is under way to counteract corruption.

Expansion of OECD

Often, OECD claims to world domination are heard. Such statements have definite grounds. The organization today includes 34 countries, including most of the states of the European Union. OECD countries account for about sixty percent of world industrial production. But it only says that it is simply impossible to live in the modern technological world and to be isolated from it. Many countries cooperate with the OECD in a number of ways, not being its members. The expansion of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development is limited by strict standards, which must be met by countries claiming full membership. The list of OECD for expansion includes such important countries with intensively developing economies, such as Brazil, India, China, Indonesia and South Africa.

OECD and Russian Federation

The relationship between the OECD and Russia is not easy. For many years, the Russian Federation has declared its policy of integration into this international structure. An important step in this direction was Russia's accession to the World Trade Organization. But in March 2014, the process of Russia's integration into the OECD was suspended for an indefinite period. The reason for this was mainly economic sanctions against the backdrop of the Ukrainian crisis. But the importance also has increased anti-Western rhetoric in the Russian ruling circles. Many in Russia question the very need for the country's integration into this international structure. Antiglobalist conservative tendencies are becoming more acute in many countries and regions of the world. Russia in this regard is no exception.

Prospects for globalization

For an incomplete seven decades of its existence, the OECD, whose name decrypts evidence of claims to world influence, has become a very authoritative structure. At the beginning of the third millennium, new perspectives and directions of activity in the sphere of coordination of economic development and the world division of labor were opened before it. The global production of material values in the twenty-first century is increasingly shifting to the region of Southeast Asia. And the OECD organization performs a coordinating function in this process. It contributes to the balanced consideration of the legitimate interests of the owners of intellectual property rights for high-tech products and those who produce these products.
