Textured plaster "Bark beetle" with their own hands. Application of plaster "Bark beetle"

Quite often today, for finishing both inside and outside the premises is used textured plaster "Bark beetle". With her hands it is applied to various surfaces. It should be said that the technology of laying the material is simple. Sure, there are some nuances that need to be known. Further we will get acquainted with the material, and also we will understand how to make decorative plaster "Bark beetle" with our own hands.

General information

Its name plaster received for the drawing, which is obtained on the surface - it looks like the traces of bark beetle, remaining on the wood. Today there are two types of this material. "Bark beetle" can be on gypsum or acrylic basis. The first is sold in dry form, and the second - as a ready-made mixture. If in general a short description of the material, then we can say that this is a composite plaster, which contains small pebbles-granules. Each manufacturer uses this or another recipe for production. However, as a rule, marble or mineral crumb acts as granules. The granularity of the material depends on the size of the inclusions. It can be from 0.1 to 3.5 mm.

Material Advantages

By using polymeric components and mineral filler instead of sand, the mixture becomes light. This prevents excessive stress on the structural elements of the structure. In the decorative plaster "Bark beetle" does not contain harmful impurities, so it is environmentally safe. The material is resistant to different temperatures. In particular, the coating can withstand drops of -55 to +60 degrees. Plaster is not subject to burning in the sun, it is resistant to fire. When the temperature rises, the coating does not emit harmful compounds. One of the undoubted advantages of the material is its durability. The coating is not exposed to chemicals, molds, precipitation. Plaster "Bark beetle" is not exacting to care. It should be washed regularly with water. The material is also resistant to mechanical stresses. When washing, you can use a sponge or a vacuum cleaner. Also, the coating can withstand weak impacts. The main color is white. You can change it by adding dye to the solution. Also it is possible to cover a dried surface with a paint. The material is quite common, and its value is quite affordable.

Possibilities of use

Due to its characteristics, the material is used quite widely today. As mentioned above, the coating can be used both outside and inside the structure. For exterior decoration is applied facade plaster "Bark beetle". It is not difficult to apply a coat with your own hands. From the imagination of the owner will depend on the picture, which in the end will turn out. The pattern is formed by some or other movements, by means of which the plastering of "Bark beetle" is made. With your own hands, you can create different patterns: wavy, transverse, longitudinal, chaotic. If desired, even a very original picture can turn out.

Selection of material

Before you apply the plaster "Bark beetle" with your own hands, you must choose the right mix. There are a lot of manufacturers today, each of which uses one or another method of preparing the material. At selection it is necessary to pay attention to its granularity and type. The first characteristic determines the width and depth of the grooves, which will be obtained during the laying and creation of the pattern. One of the features that the coating has is that the material consumption will depend on the size of the pellets. So, plasters with a grain of 3.5 mm will need more than the one with 2.5 mm filler. Also it is necessary to decide which mix the work will be carried out - dry or finished. The latter option, of course, is more preferable. With the finished mixture it is more convenient and faster to work. However, its cost is somewhat higher. At the same time, it should be said that the properly prepared dry mixture in its qualities will not at all yield to the finished one.

Suitable surfaces

The base, on which the plaster "Bark beetle" will be laid by own hands, should provide good adhesion (adhesion). In this regard, to cover the material with glass, iron is impractical, since it simply will not stay there. The most suitable surfaces are concrete, brick, plasterboard. For these and similar reasons, decorative plaster with its own hands fits without special problems . "Bark beetle" refers to the category of finish coatings. In this regard, the material is not used for grouting and masking pits or cracks in the surface. It should be said here that often not only the plastering of the walls is carried out by the "Bark beetle". With your hands with this material can be trimmed and the ceiling.

Tools for work

If you want, that the plaster "Bark beetle" is put by own hands, it is necessary to prepare all necessary. You will need:

  • Set of spatulas.
  • Bucket.
  • The grater is plastic.
  • Drill with a nozzle "mixer".
  • Directly the mixture itself.

For work it is recommended to choose the autumn or spring period. You can lay the cover, of course, in the summer. However, it should be remembered that the solution at high temperatures will dry quickly, and therefore it will be necessary to work quickly enough.

Substrate preparation

Before the plastering "Bark beetle" with its own hands, it is necessary to work with the surface. The base should be cleaned, remove dust, dirt, mold (if any). Next, you need to evaluate the state of the surface. In the presence of irregularities, cracks or pits, they should be filled with putty. As a result, the surface should be relatively flat. Pits should not exceed the grain size of the material.

Primer

After preparation, the substrate should be treated with a special compound. Paint-primer will provide the necessary adhesion of the material to the surface. The composition should be chosen in white or the same shade as the coating. This will prevent the primer from penetrating through the plaster. If an expensive formulation was chosen, then they can be coated in one layer. It has the necessary thick and high-quality consistency. If the soil is cheaper, then it will have to be stacked in several layers. The coating dries for about 4-6 hours. After that, you can start plastering. Specialists recommend using materials from the same manufacturer for the best result. If we talk about specific manufacturers, then, for example, for plastering "Ceresite" when preparing the surface is recommended to use a primer CT-16.

Preparation

Dilute the mixture in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. However, there are some general rules. So, at first water is poured into the container, and then the mixture is poured. The mass is mixed with a drill and a "mixer" nozzle. After the mixture has reached the required consistency, it must be allowed to stand for several minutes, and then again thoroughly mixed.

Progress

To apply decorative plaster, use a grater. The tool should be positioned at an angle of 60 degrees. In relation to the machined plane and spread the material over the substrate. The layer will have a thickness corresponding to the graininess of the coating. Once the mixture applied to the surface stops adhering to the tool, you can start forming the pattern. This is done using a plastic or wooden float. Furrows can be vertical, circular, horizontal, crossed - it all depends on imagination and preferences. It is recommended to cover the whole surface at once without smoke breaks and breaks. Dry the material will be about 1-3 days. With a quality work done on the surface, there will be no glossy areas or joints visible. In general, the coating should be flat and uniform.
