Signs of rabies

The rabies virus is quite dangerous for both the animal and the human body. It is transferred together with the blood and saliva of the infected individual. In most cases, this occurs when an animal is bitten - wild or domestic. The signs of rabies are pretty clear. Knowing them, it is fairly easy to distinguish an infected animal from a healthy one. It is worth noting that this is a very dangerous disease, which, in the absence of timely medical assistance, ends with death.

Signs of rabies in animals

The incubation period of the disease lasts an average of 15 days to several months. At this time, almost no external symptoms are present. The onset of the development of the disease is accompanied by fairly marked changes in behavior.

For example, signs of rabies in dogs are the variability of mood and behavior. Such pets then become affectionate, then, on the contrary, attack the master with loud barking. An animal can nervously walk around the room or yard, dig something in the ground, catch imaginary objects. Aggression manifests itself to people, and to other animals. For example, if you see someone else's dog, your pet will try to attack it and bite it. At some point the house dog leaves the house and, as a rule, does not return.

Such animals are aggressive and do not fear anything - they are driven only by anger. To distinguish it externally is also quite simple - from the mouth drips saliva, as the level of its formation is greatly increased. The same applies to the allocation of tears. The barking of such an animal is hoarse.

The signs of rabies in cats are exactly the same. Only these animals are much more dangerous. The fact is that cats are very mobile, fast and accurate. If a rabid cat decided to attack you, then most likely, he will be able to bite you.

Signs of rabies in humans

In humans, as in the animal, the disease passes in three stages. The incubation period is associated with mild symptoms. An infected person is concerned about mild pain in the wound from a bite, sometimes itching and reddening of the rumen.

The onset of the development of the disease is associated with a general malaise. The patient has a fever, there is a headache, nausea, nightmares or insomnia. In some cases, there is an increase in auditory and visual sensitivity.

The second phase of development begins about 2 to 3 days later. Body temperature can rise to 40 degrees. As in animals, there is an increased formation of saliva and intense tearing. Such people often sweat.

Then attacks of aggression or panic fear begin . For example, it's interesting that most infected people start panicking with water. In some cases there is a fear of light, enclosed space, noise, wind, altitude, etc. Getting into this environment, a person becomes like "mad" - he can attack people, turn furniture, scream, etc. At such times patients have extraordinary strength.

Between attacks, people have hallucinations, convulsions, delirium - the gradual destruction of the spinal cord begins. The pharyngeal reflex disappears, as a result of which a large amount of saliva is released to the outside. Indeed, "foam from the mouth" is one of the most striking signs of rabies.

Quite often at this stage the patient dies from asphyxia or heart attack. If he managed to survive, then the final stage is coming. Active signs of rabies stop, a person becomes calm. Slowly developing complete paralysis of the body and organs, which is the cause of death.

That is why vaccination is so important from this disease. If you are bitten by an infected or even just a suspicious animal (with a bite you did not provoke), then you should immediately go to the doctor for vaccination - only so you can stop the disease. Rabies, which entered the first stage of its development and began to cause the first symptoms, is no longer amenable to treatment and the probability of a lethal outcome is 100%.
