The future sportsman from Vadim Ungurs trained and his talents did not go unnoticed: in 1997 Semyon Poltavsky was invited to the St. Petersburg team "Peter-Lada", which had the status of a farm-team "Motorist" and performed in the first league of the Russian championship.

Having spent 4 seasons in Petrograd, Semyon became one of the leaders of the team. The fans, having watched the volleyball player, were nicknamed his "boa constrictor". No matter what the situation was on the court, Poltavsky always showed calmness, restraint and remained mentally stable.

In 1999, volleyball player Semyon Poltavsky was summoned to junior, and later to the youth national team of Russia. In both cases, the team became the winner of the world championships.

Moving to Italy and returning to Russia

Semyon signed a professional contract with the Italian team "Modena" from the series A, but the season held on loan in the club Montichiari. The volleyball player showed an average level of play in Italy.

For the 2003/04 season, Poltava returned to his homeland, was announced for the final stage of the World League tournament, which was held in Madrid. There he played the first official match for the national team. Further, in 2007, together with the team went to Germany, where he took part in the European Championships.

The leadership of the Moscow "Dynamo" in 2003 signed a contract with the volleyball player, the next five seasons Semyon will hold in the Muscovites.

In 2005, Poltavsky will play in a new position. Instead of the position of the game player, viewers will see him at the site of the diagonal striker. In the subsequent season - 2006 together with clubmates Simon will become the champion of Russia for the first time.

End of career

There was a succession of injuries, because of the back injury Semyon was unable to join the national team, and because of shoulder problems, most of the 2011/12 season was forced to miss.

In the summer of 2012, Semyon returned to Dynamo, but a long recovery period after the operation allowed him to play only on the position of the game player.

Only in the autumn of 2015 Semyon Poltavsky moved to the Krasnodar Dynamo, and in May 2016 he officially announced his resignation from professional sports.
