In 1955, there were barracks and barbed wire in Sapernoye. Such settlement of the village was explained by the fact that after the end of the war, these prisoners were occupied by German prisoners. From 1957 to 1968 the construction of peacetime facilities began. There were built residential houses, office, club, motor depot. Some people from among those builders are still alive today. The old-timers remember how happy it was that they were building new houses, what a wonderful kindergarten was, remembering the names of their teachers-bright, dear memories of childhood!

About the post-war life, the local residents retained only enthusiastic memories, despite the hard work, people lived like one family. We enjoyed the most common conditions for modern people: a good bath, a medical center.

The memory of the heroic feat of the people during the war years is carefully preserved. The former Lenspirtstroy plant is today a memorable place where the people lay flowers. Care for veterans is an important area of social work these days. In Saperny this is given much attention. Excursions, improvement of the village, sports events, maintenance of order on a small beach near the Neva are just some of the activities of local activists. One of the projects, which is sure to be implemented, is the construction of a chapel, where one can think about the sublime and leave for the time from everyday vanity.
