Knitting for children is an actual topic of motherhood.

For many centuries, the future mummies independently prepared a dowry for their kids. Probably, this instinct awakens in pregnant women and they do their best to find a way out for their unspent abilities: they learn to sew or for the first time in their life they take their knitting needles. Knitting for children delivers a real pleasure, things are always cute, and their production does not take much time, which gives a quick result. But this is not their main value, they are embedded part of the soul and a loving heart. In addition, they should be comfortable, functional and connected from an environmentally friendly thread.

Knitting for children requires a special approach to choosing yarn. Baby skin is very tender and often prone to allergic reactions. The main requirement is high quality of yarn. It is not necessary to be guided by the price - there is a good production of domestic manufacturers and at quite an acceptable price. All attention should be paid to the composition of the yarn when choosing a yarn.

Cotton, silk, viscose, alpaca wool, merino wool (it is soft and not pricking) - the more natural the composition, the more the thread is suitable for knitting for children. Mohair, angora, polyamides, thread with lurex - this yarn should be avoided and not used when making children's things. If the composition confuses or does not trust the manufacturer, you can check the thread for "naturalness" in an old "grandfather's" way: a small piece of yarn needs to be set on fire. Fibers of natural origin burned, form ash, and synthetic melts and turn into a plastic ball.

If the natural wool burns, then it smells of raw raw material, and knitting for children from wool is very popular. This yarn is suitable for making sweaters, dresses, overalls, and, of course, caps and pinets. Finished things turn out soft, elastic, they are pleasant to hold in hands and to press to a body, they well keep heat. Children are most pleasant Merino wool - thin and fluffy, very durable in quality - it does not irritate the skin of babies. But you need to be careful, very young children tend to try everything, and it is highly undesirable that the nap from the woolen products gets into the mouth of the crumbs.

Cotton has its advantages, having a natural basis, this yarn fits all. Although cotton dries for a long time, and things from it often sit down and deform during sock, its popularity does not fall. Even in the summer heat, he gives a feeling of coolness. Knitting for babies crochet goes well with cotton, it does not have elasticity, and well-chosen patterns allow needlewomen to weave first-class eddies. Often there are compositions of yarns with the addition of cotton, but if such yarn is taken for a child's thing, then the percentage of cotton should not be below 45-50% of the total composition, and it is good if the rest is accounted for by silk viscose or acrylic.

An important role in knitting is played by the thickness and torsion of the thread. Knitting for the tongue on knitting needles is tightly twisted, it is more difficult to knit this yarn. If you use knitting needles, you can get a canvas that is too rigid or shapeless, it is very difficult to remove this defect, even after the iron is flattened through a wet cloth. As for the thickness of the yarn, for children's things, traditionally prefer a more delicate thread. Baby products are usually very tiny and thick yarn will look unaesthetic. An exception can be made when knitting a coat, poncho, overalls. The thickness of the yarn can always be seen on the package, it is indicated in meters for the number of grams. The thickness of the thread from 135 m in 50 g or from 200 m in 150 g will be optimal for kids.

It is not very important, after all, what kind of thread will be chosen for the reduction of things for the baby. Much more important is the love and tender feelings that she will absorb during your work!
