Historical reference

The Kubanskaya River of the Lazarevsky District in Bolshoi Sochi is located near the village of Dagomys. It is located on the Black Sea coast, where also there are gentle mountains, on the slope of which there is a wooded area, many gardens, vineyards and even tea plantations. Dagomys is considered to be a resort in this region, which is among the most popular.

In the second half of the XIX century, this land passed to the family possessions of the tsar and the Romanov family as a whole. After that, about ten hectares were planted with garden trees in the area, among which were the most exotic at that time. The center of the park zone is known for its palace constructions. After 1917, the Soviet authorities seventeen years later, the gardens were transferred to the local fruit farm. In the subtropical park, which is located on the slopes of the Armenian peak, there is a rich collection of flowers, bushes and trees. The area in which the river Dagomys flows, for the first time in Russia was planted with tea. Today in this area grows the famous Krasnodar variety.

Tourist routes

This is not just a series of excellent resorts on the Caucasian Black Sea coast, but thanks to high trails, picturesque rivers and bubbling waterfalls, there is also a place in the whole country where lovers of outdoor activities gather. First of all, it is mountain and water tourism. From these places a large number of trails emerge that will lead the traveler to the picturesque gorges of the rivers of Western and Eastern Dagomys. In this area it goes like a bus transport, and it is just possible to get there by car.

The Eastern Dagomys River: Tourism

What to do for a traveler in this region? According to the tourist's comments, the most useful and pleasant moment that the Dagomys (Eastern) river offers is not even water tourism or scenic landscapes, but water itself. There is evidence that it has a spring origin. In addition, if you follow the river, you can see that it is filled with fontanels, which are beaten from a rocky cleft. Consider a site in which river water is saturated with minerals having a subterranean origin, is quite simple. There, the stones have something like a touch of red or burgundy color. Since ancient times, the inhabitants of the Caucasus liked to tell legends about such places. For example, that these red-burgundy stones are sacred and that the blood of a god or a great national hero was shed in these areas, after which the curative power appears near the water.

The Dagomys River (Eastern tributary) has a backwater, and, as tourists and locals note, there are a lot of them, and they are quite deep. The channel also has a large number of clefts, as it flows through mountain rifts.

In case you want to go for a walk along it, it is necessary to take shoes for this purpose, which is made of fabric (but necessarily dense) material, and will also fit snugly to the legs. It may seem like an extra measure for you, but walking along the riverbed will be much more comfortable and safe with bare feet. In this situation, you will not constantly look down, so as not to step on anything.

If you go up the river, sooner or later you will come to the site, in which the eastern inflow of the river merges with the Western Bezumenka. You can go to one and the other, because there are several high and very beautiful waterfalls. The one that is located on Bezumenka, during the summer often is parched, but even in such circumstances it is possible to look at the canyon types that you will not forget for a long time after the trip. A number of waterfalls of the Eastern Dagomys River are usually called Samshitov. This is not just an accidental name. In fact, Boxwood waterfalls are located where there is a heavy canopy of ancient boxwood forests.

Canyon of Trough

The western tributary of Dagomys (located on the territory of the Lazarevsky district in the city of Sochi) has a famous canyon, which is commonly called "Trough". Here, on the river, at a short distance from the village you can find a signpost for this magnificent natural monument. Rock formation is blurred due to the water flow, and therefore a large number of depressions appear in the bottom. Due to the fact that these crests and ledges resemble the trough, they also received here such a name.

If you walk along the river, you will have the opportunity to enjoy not only the beautiful natural view of the river, but also the majestic Colchis forest, which is nearby. There are many rare plants here that are protected by the Red Book.

Baranovsky trough

The Dagomys River is one of the attractions of this resort region. In this case, it is necessary to look at the neighborhood of not only the western, but also the eastern inflow. Your rest will not be complete if you at least once do not arrange something like a picnic or going to a shish kebab in this locality, in the Caucasus. The site, which is ideal for this purpose, is the so-called "Baranovskiye trough" (by the name of the village near the canyon). Here, both locals and tourists gather, who want to relax from the city noise surrounded by nature - forests and birds to the sound of water. Near the mossy rocks grow evergreen boxwood and other trees. You can also swim here, especially in the hot season (summer-spring).
