Reseda aromatic: cultivation and application

Until quite recently in almost every front garden it was possible to meet a mignonette. True, recently it has become undeservedly forgotten. This unpretentious plant, which came to us from Southern Europe, has almost 50 different species. Reseda odorata (Reseda odorata) is especially appreciated in landscape design for its beautiful leaf shape and unusual aroma.

Description of the plant

The flowering period continues from the beginning of June until the onset of cold weather. In the place of flowers in the lower part of the inflorescence fruit is formed in the form of a single-compartment box containing small seeds that retain their germination for 3 years. Due to its unusual aroma of herbs, fragrant is an excellent honey. The aerial part is a small bush formed by ascending stems up to 50 cm long, covered with pinnately-spaced or whole leaves of elongated shape. The pyramidal kind of inflorescence consists of small flowers that have different colors depending on the anthers - yellowish, greenish or orange.

Growth conditions

The site for planting resids should be well illuminated by the sun, although it tolerates penumbra quite well. Insufficient lighting on the development of the plant does not affect, but can lead to a loss of compactness of shrubs and to weaken the smell of reseda during the flowering period. The soil is necessary, enriched with slightly alkaline loams, in which sand, clay, peat are added. If the soil is acidic, gardeners recommend adding dolomite flour or lime. When growing potatoes in pots, a clay soil mixture with the addition of peat is used.

Features of care

Like any flower for many years, reseda does not require special care. The main thing is to ensure regular watering and periodically to loosen the top layer of the soil as it dries up. To flowering last as long as possible, at least 2 times a week, fertilizing the plant with mineral fertilizers. For flowers grown in containers, this procedure should be done once every two weeks. The appearance of new inflorescences is facilitated by the timely removal of wilted flowers.

Reseda fragrant refers to plants that are not exposed to diseases. But the danger for her is represented by caterpillars of the Butterfly butterfly. Various modern insecticides help to resist them.

Watering and top dressing

This plant prefers abundant watering, so in the hot summer days resed should be watered as often as possible. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the soil is not too wet, because excessive moisture can lead to rotting of the roots. Since the moment when the first buds appear on the plant, and before the end of the flowering period, fertilizing with mineral fertilizers is carried out.

Reproduction of mignonette

In March, the seeds are planted in a closed ground, in open - in early May. In the boxes is filled soil mixture of turf, humus and sand, and the seeds of the plant after planting slightly prisypayutsya soil. Within two weeks, sprouts appear, which, after the formation of the first pair of leaves, must be dived directly into the soil or pots of peat. You need to do this very carefully, because the rod root of the resede for transplantation reacts very painfully. A place to house plants is better to choose more shaded.

To flowering was more abundant, the tips of the seedlings should be pinched over the third pair of real leaves that appeared. In the flower bed between the plants the interval from 20 to 25 cm is observed.

You can already in April to get fragrant flowers, which has a fragrant herbaceous. Cultivation of a plant for this must begin in July, when the seed is sown. By autumn, 3-4 dives are dived into pots, then they are transferred to a larger diameter vessel, and at apexes about 30 cm the tops are pricked. Wintering plants are left in a room where there is enough light, at an air temperature of 6-8 degrees above zero. Watering is carried out as necessary and very carefully.

With the onset of spring, when the duration of the light day increases , another trans-shipment is done to increase the area of feeding. Appeared side shoots are plucked, after which you can gradually increase the air temperature to 20 degrees Celsius. From this moment, fertilizing with complex fertilizers is performed once in 2 weeks.

Often a sultry sauce gives self-seeding. A seed box of open type allows maturing seeds to leave it very easily. Thanks to this method of multiplying varietal plants, splitting of features can occur, and the plants will differ in their heterogeneity.

Application of rheeda

The plant received its name due to its medicinal properties, because the word resedare is translated as "treat", "calm down". For a long time reseda has been used in folk medicine. Today it is widely used in perfumery, giving women's perfume a special aroma that these flowers possess. Reseda fragrant is revered and beekeepers, as it is an excellent honey.
