Begonia room

Today, begonia indoor is one of the most frequently grown plants. Flowers begonia combine tenderness and beauty, it is suitable for both garden and indoor growing.

The house begonia plant itself was discovered in the 17th century, and to date more than 1000 hybrid varieties have been bred by breeders. Especially popular are the varieties that were bred in Belgium. They have smart flowers of various shades. But you can meet these amazing flowers in the tropics.

Depending on the type of begonia, the room may be a herbaceous one-year-old and perennial shrub plant. There are three groups of this plant: tuber, bush and leaf begonia.

Care of the plant depends on the conditions where it will be grown.

For example, tuberous begonia room will feel good in sunlight, and varieties that have large flowers will grow better in the shade. The same conditions apply to the begonia of the ampel variety, the place for planting is selected depending on the size of the flowers. But almost all varieties of begonia are poorly tolerated by wind and drafts. From the wind, the flowers of begonia can fade, and the stems break.

Lighting and temperature mode

Begonia (houseplants) prefers ordinary air temperature, varieties with small flowers carry a lower temperature, for example, up to +10 degrees. But all varieties of begonias do not tolerate frost. Leaves may suffer, and even turn black with cold wind. A very hot or high temperature helps stop the growth of flowers, the fall of the leaf and the loss of juiciness and color buds.

Watering

Like all indoor plants, begonia is well tolerated by moisture. But watering should be moderate. Overabundance of moisture or its stagnation causes rot of tubers and stems. If there is not enough water, the leaves and stems lose their juiciness. As for time, it is best to water begonia in the morning, so that moisture evaporates throughout the day.

The soil

One of the main conditions for the good development of begonia is the condition of the soil. The tuber begonia has certain requirements to the land. This flower requires a loose and nutritious soil. A hybrid variety loves a denser land. Ideal ground mixture for adult plants is deciduous land, peat and sand in a proportion of 3-1-1.

It is very useful to add such fertilizer to the soil as cow dung.

Landing

To the foliage of the plant was strong and healthy, after planting begonia, the open soil for three weeks, feed the flower with nitrate or complex fertilizer. Keep in mind that the fertilizer contains as little nitrogen as possible, since its overabundance can damage the plant, cause greater elongation, or even decay.

Planting begonias in the open ground is better at the beginning of the summer period. If you have a greenhouse, a closed loggia or a glazed balcony, you can land in May. Cover the seedlings with low temperature. Very useful for this flower is a kind of hardening, that is, at first you need to take out pots or boxes of flowers on the balcony for a limited time.

If you plan to plant seedlings on a flowerbed, before planting it is necessary to hold seedlings in an apartment or in a house. Do not forget to put begonia on the sunny side and water it every day.

In the process of plant transplantation, it is very important to observe the accuracy, since from a broken stem or damaged root the plant can die.

Diseases and wreckers of begonia

If the care is wrong, the plant can get sick. Leaves and stems can be covered with powdery mildew and gray rot. Therefore it is very important at the first signs of the disease to treat the plant with antiparasitic drugs. Remember that proper care provides begonia with a beautiful and blooming look.
