Processing of trees in autumn. Sprinkling of trees in autumn

Autumn is a very "hot" time for gardeners. And although the crop is almost already harvested, it is necessary to conduct many other works. And today we will talk about the autumn care of fruit trees.

Autumn care

So, the processing of trees in the fall. What does it include in itself? The list of agrotechnical measures is quite extensive, therefore we will consider each item separately.

Trimming

Processing of garden trees in autumn always begins with pruning. It is the main and most accessible method for regulating the yield of a tree. Carry it in both autumn and spring. At the end of summer it is necessary to carry out so-called preventive pruning. You need to carefully inspect the trees and cut the weak, as well as growing shoots inside the crown. For the next season, there will be very little use from them, and the only thing they can be useful for will be small, substandard fruits. To break the tree are dried and broken branches.

Processing trees in autumn: removing tops

Sometimes, after completely trimmed, nature rejoices us with warmth and sun, and the "fallen asleep" trees come to life again. So be prepared for a large number of tops.

This is the name of young shoots that grow vertically upwards. They appear from sleeping buds and begin to grow very actively, sometimes reach a height of two meters. These are the living shoots, which take away the strength of the tree, but never bear fruit and only thicken the crown. Therefore, they must be disposed of immediately.

You can remove such shoots by breaking them with your hands or carving with the help of a garden pruner. In any case, the tree has a wound that needs to be treated with a garden crock.

Spraying

Sprinkling of trees in the fall will help prevent the invasion of insects in the spring, and also get a richer harvest. Immediately after removing the entire crop, the trees must be treated with a solution of urea. To do this, dilute 500 grams of fertilizer in 10 liters of water and carefully process the entire tree, including the trunk. This procedure will save the vegetation from the scab.

From fruit rot, it will be a good idea to sprinkle trees with a solution of the Bordeaux liquid. You can prepare the solution yourself. To do this you will need:

  • Copper vitriol - 300 grams;
  • Water (warm) - 3 liters;
  • Lime - 400 grams;
  • Water - 10 liters.

First, dilute the copper sulphate with warm water. Then pour the lime into a bucket of water and, with constant stirring, pour in a solution of copper sulfate. Spraying with a Bordeaux liquid should be done in late October or early November. Choose a dry and windless day.

Such spraying will help get rid of trees from many diseases:

  • Gray rot;
  • Scab;
  • Purple spotting;
  • Coccomicosis, and so on.

Such spraying of trees in the autumn allows to process the whole garden without damage to other plants and useful insects.

Processing of trees: bark

Treatment of trees in the autumn includes protection of the bark. In the spring very often you can observe quite deep vertical cracks on tree trunks . They arise because of sudden temperature changes in winter days, when the sun heats the bark in the daytime, and at night it sharply cools. This is what causes cracking.

Such damage can be caused by winter pests under the crust as well. Therefore, be sure to clean the trunk of the tree from mosses and lichens. The bark left behind the trunk must be removed. This will help to eliminate the cobwebs prepared for wintering, the causative agents of many diseases: rust, powdery mildew, bud moth, etc. Be sure to burn all trapped belts on tree trunks.

The trunk must be whitened, and then wrapped with a protective cloth. It can be any material. Suitable and ordinary rags, because the main goal - to protect the tree trunk from direct sunlight.

Whitewash Basting

Treatment of fruit tree trunks in the fall is, first of all, in whitewashing. It will help protect trees from possible damage due to sudden temperature fluctuations, sunburn and slow the budding buds.

To protect the tree from sunburn whitewash must be applied to a height of at least two meters. Do not forget about the processing of skeletal branches.

For the event, choose a dry and windless weather. A whitewash is performed after the leaf fall is complete.

What to whiten?

If possible, it is better to purchase a ready-made solution of water-dispersion paint. You can use it when the air temperature falls below the mark in three degrees of frost. Paint is good in that it does not prevent the tree from breathing, but does not let the ultraviolet radiation pass through.

If you can not buy a ready-made solution, then it should be prepared by yourself. The role of the fastening agent can be carried out with a bustilate, because when it dries it forms a thin air-permeable layer and does not dissolve under the influence of water. Whitewashing in this case will not be washed away by rain, and the tree will perfectly overwinter. It is better to refuse the use of clay or mullein, as they are very unstable and immediately washed away by rain.

The role of white pigment is perfectly performed by ordinary chalk. To get a quality solution, you will need two parts of the fastener and part of the pigment. At first they are thoroughly mixed with each other, and only then water can be added in them. The consistency of the solution should resemble paint.

The trunk can be truncated using conventional slaked lime. But in this case, the stem must be covered twice, because only then the thickness of the paint will meet the norm. To prepare a whitening mixture you will need:

  • Slaked lime - 3 kilograms;
  • Casein glue - 80 grams;
  • Copper vitriol (diluted) - 450 grams;
  • water.

Carefully combine all components, and then gradually dilute with water. Ready-made solution should resemble good thick sour cream.

Top dressing

Processing of fruit trees in autumn provides for mandatory application of fertilizers. However, now it is worth giving up nitrogen fertilizing. At this time, the following compositions are suitable:

  • Superphosphate (best double);
  • Monopotassium phosphate;
  • Potassium (sulphate and chloride);
  • humus.

By the way, it is the humus that can give the tree all the substances necessary for it. Mineral fertilizers can worsen the microflora of the roots, whereas humus is not. It is introduced during the autumn digging of the basal circles of trees.

That's all. In the carrying out of all the above-mentioned measures, the processing of trees in the fall is carried out.
