Eggplant. Planting seeds and seedlings

Eggplant is a delicious product, which also has in its composition useful substances, so necessary for the body:

  • Amino acids,
  • Mineral salts,
  • Vitamins,
  • pectin,
  • and much more.

And thanks to the presence of the original taste, the eggplants are also happy to prepare various dishes: caviar, marinades, canned food, salads, etc. That's why most gardeners try to plant this popular vegetable in their own beds. However, the first thing to do is to grow seedlings from the seed . Planting seeds is not difficult, but requires some knowledge.

Disinfection

First you need to properly prepare the seeds for sowing. It is necessary to select only viable options that will in the future give a healthy and strong plant. It is worth considering that usually eggplant seeds are stored up to 8 years. During this period they have good germination. But it's best that they are not older than 4 years. After this boundary, the possibility of seed emergence sharply decreases.

Before there are eggplants in the ground, landing means a preliminary stage of disinfection of seeds. You can do this in a special solution of potassium permanganate. It will be enough to dissolve a gram of potassium permanganate in 100 ml of warm water (necessarily boiled) (it is sold in each pharmacy). After this procedure, all the seeds are thoroughly washed. And then they are processed by a multitude of trace elements. Most often they are extracted from wood ash. To do this, a tablespoon of ash is diluted in a half-liter jar of warm water. During the day, this mixture is insisted. Do not forget to stir occasionally the contents of the can. And when the upper water without ash will be drained into a bowl, the seeds of eggplant are stuck in it, about 4 hours.

The soil

If you want to grow a beautiful eggplant, planting should be done in specially prepared land. Of course, you can buy a ready mix, but you can do it yourself. This requires:

  • Compost - 1 part,
  • Humus - 2 parts,
  • Sand - 1 part,
  • Ash - 2 items,
  • Superphosphate - 60g.

It is worth noting that eggplants are very difficult to transfer any transplant. Therefore, it is desirable to immediately put them in small pots separately from each other. The container is filled with the prepared mixture, then the seed is put, and on top of it it is necessary to sprinkle with sand (about half a centimeter).

Care of seedlings

Immediately after planting, all the pots are covered with a film and sent to the warmest place, until the first shoots appear. Be sure to open the container briefly once a day. Otherwise, the ground will become covered with mold. As soon as the seed sprouts, the eggplant is exposed to the brightest place.

It is very important to provide a seedlings of aubergine 12 hours light day. This can be done with the help of special lighting devices. This will make the plant strong and yielding in the future.

Eggplants prefer heat, so it is advisable to maintain a temperature in the range of 14-28 degrees. A watering of seedlings should be no more than once a week, and you need to monitor that the water in the pot is not stagnant.

How to plant eggplants in the open ground?

In the open ground already flowering aubergines. Planting is carried out on soil where there are no weeds and there is no draft. Excellent seedlings take root where beans, cucumbers, carrots, beets or any green cultures used to grow.

Eggplants take root well, if they are planted in cloudy weather, towards evening. Wells, however, should be prepared ahead of time. They contain additional microelements and the necessary substances:

  • ash,
  • superphosphate,
  • urea,
  • humus.

It should be done about a week, and on the day of planting it is desirable to shed holes with a hot solution of potassium permanganate and plant a seedlings of aubergines in a very warm soil .

We take care of plants

Eggplants never hibernate. Watering is carried out several times a week. And the water should be warm. When plants grow, they should be pinched. This will allow for the formation of more branches. You can get very large fruits by removing some flowers from the plant. If they are of the order of 5 - this is already enough.

It is very important not to forget to loosen the soil between eggplants, water them, apply fertilizing and fight with unexpected guests: weeds and unpleasant diseases.

Gardeners understand that if they want to get tasty and large eggplants, planting and care is very important. And then the plant will certainly thank a good harvest.
