Problems of the Content of Education in the Context of the Heritage Cde. Ushinsky

The problem of the content of school education is one of the urgent problems of our time. The State Program "Education, Ukraine of the 21st Century.", "The Concept of Education of Children and Youth in the National Education System," "The National Doctrine of Education Development in Ukraine in the 21st Century." And other documents accentuate the national orientation of modern education. In this context, the pedagogical ideas of the outstanding Ukrainian educator KD Ushinsky, his views on the content of school education, deserve attention.

The multifaceted heritage of the pedagogue has been studied in sufficient detail by scientists. At the same time, Ushinsky's ideas for optimizing education, updating the content of education, questions of national priorities in approaches to education remain topical, require detailed attention. Therefore, the purpose of our study is to analyze the pedagogical heritage of Ushinsky, his views on the content of school education.

The scientist based his pedagogical system on the idea of a nationality of upbringing, believing that the child from the earliest age must learn the elements of folk culture, learn the native language through a system of ethnic symbols, through his native culture, oral folk art.

Ushinsky proved that such an approach to the upbringing, education of the child contributes to the formation of significant psychological, moral qualities, develops national, patriotic feelings. In the article "The Native Word" Ushinsky noted the importance of the native language as the fundamental principle of the national upbringing of the child, calling him "the great national teacher", "the greatest people's mentor", "when the national language disappears - there is no people".

In his works "Man as an Object of Education", "Native Word", "Work in His Psychological and Educational Significance", "Children's World", etc., the teacher highly appreciated the popular pedagogy, called for thorough and comprehensive study of the educational experience of the people.

Note that the pages of his works contain the best examples of folklore: proverbs, sayings, riddles, tongue twisters, songs, folktales, etc ..

Ushinsky defended the natural right of each people to have their own national school, the national system of education. In this context, it is worth paying attention to the work "On the need to make Russian schools Russian", in which the author calls for the content, the logic of the presentation of the material through the "preferential, intensified study of the motherland" and Ukrainian to make Ukrainian schools Ukrainian based on Ukrainian studies. Therefore, he demanded to build the education, taking into account, first of all, the national peculiarities of children, a creative approach to organizing creative and searching work, and paying attention to the development of school local lore.

The creative heritage of Ushinsky retains its value for modern pedagogical science. Here we find many provisions that, being fundamental, help a better understanding of the child's personality, contribute to the optimal choice of ways for its development, and to update the content of school education on national principles.
