Plantar warts: causes and treatment

Plantar wart refers to benign lesions of the foot skin. It has the form of a solid round seal that protrudes above the level of healthy skin and has a pink or light brown color.

The surface of this formation is at first smooth, but eventually becomes rough due to the horny epidermis. On the surface of such a wart, you can see black dots, which are damaged capillaries. Sometimes a craterlike depression develops in its center.

Causes

The plantar wart has a viral etiology - its appearance is associated with the action of the human papillomavirus, which is transmitted by contact. The most favorable environment for this virus is humidity and heat, so often infection occurs in swimming pools, saunas and gyms. If the level of immunity is high, if the causative agent gets into the body, the disease does not develop, but with a decrease in immune defense, warts appear on the skin of the feet.

It should be noted that this pathology often develops among people with hyperhidrosis of feet (increased sweating) and with excessive dryness. Development of the disease is also facilitated by tight shoes, flat feet and diseases that occur with a violation of tissue trophism (for example, diabetes, atherosclerosis or varicose veins).

In most cases, there is a single plantar wart, but with high activity of the virus appear daughter formations, while the affected area of the foot acquires a peculiar mosaic.

I must say that plantar warts in some cases disappear on their own without leaving a trace on the skin, but more often they are traumatized when walking, which leads to severe pain and inability to walk normally.

Treatment

Diagnosis and treatment of plantar warts is done by a dermatologist, which should be addressed immediately after revealing any formations on the foot. It is impossible to self-medicate, since the roots of such warts lie deep, and their incomplete removal will provoke the appearance of new elements. In addition, with excessive damage to tissues located nearby, the virus is transferred to healthy areas, which leads to the formation of a large number of daughter formations.

If you are looking for an answer to the question of how to remove a wart at home, then you can apply a simple folk recipe. It is necessary several times during the day to rub warts with garlic. You can also make a mixture of one slice of garlic, a teaspoon of vinegar and a small amount of wheat flour, from which to form a cake and put on a wart, seal with adhesive plaster and keep for 2-3 days - the plantar wart falls off itself.

However, to get rid of warts on the foot more quickly and efficiently, you should consult a doctor who can use electrocoagulation, cryodestruction, radio waves or a laser to quickly remove the warts. Surgical excision can also be performed under local anesthesia if it is a question of large warts.

I must say that in some cases, local treatment is not enough, so patients are shown taking antiviral drugs and immunocorrectors.
