Neil Armstrong - the astronaut who first set foot on the extraterrestrial surface
Neil Armstrong - an astronaut who literally conquered the earthly companion. He not only landed on the surface of the moon, but also sets an American flag, remembers everything he sees around, collects soil for further research in laboratories. He is a vivid example for modern youth, a man who has achieved success in conquering outer space.
A bit of history
Neil Armstrong is an astronaut known to mankind as the one who took the first steps not on the planet Earth. He was born in 1930, on August 5. Despite the fact that he is known as having landed on the Moon, Neil was also a veteran of aviation. In his career - 78 combat missions. Only after their successful implementation, he joined NASA, becoming a test pilot.
In 1969, he became commander of the mission "Apollo 11". Its main task is to land on the moon. Together with his partners, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, he successfully completes the mission. During the landing, he was pronounced the famous phrase about a small step for man and a giant leap for mankind.
In NASA, Armstrong serves until 1971, after which he changes his occupation to teaching at the university. In 2012, he suffers a complicated heart operation. But complications arose, after which, at the age of 83, Neil died.
Plan your flight to Earth's satellite
For the first time the idea of flights to the moon was visited by the American government because it did not want to lag behind the USSR in the process of conquering outer space. First, the fight was on an equal footing, but after Yuri Gagarin, the US remained in the race far behind. Therefore, John F. Kennedy in 1961 instructed the American cosmonautics to land on the moon in the next decade. Then the astronauts and scientists did not know how to do it. The mission was allocated 24 billion dollars - a fabulous amount.
Specialists began training, they even helped the German rocket engineer Verne von Braun. Thanks to him in 1967 the "Saturn-5" rocket was launched into orbit. It can deliver up to 50 tons to the moon. Then follow the trials of the Apollo. The first attempt was extremely unsuccessful. Astronauts pursue difficulties both technical and physical. Moreover, the first flight on the Apollo did not take place at all, because of the fire the whole crew was killed.
Subsequent testing is becoming more successful, and the Apollo 11 carries out the assignment of John F. Kennedy. Special difficulties were not observed, since Captain Neil Armstrong - an astronaut with a lot of experience, as well as his two companions. The ship sits safely on the surface of the Moon, and also delivers the entire crew to Earth.
Landing on the Moon
In July 1969, Neil Armstrong assumed the command of the crew of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. His mission is to deliver astronauts to the lunar surface. On July 20, Neil becomes the first person to pass through the only natural satellite of our planet.
A look from the lunar surface
Mission "Apollo 11" was planned with the condition that the sun did not rise high above the horizon. Since there is no atmosphere on the Moon, astronauts will be completely defenseless before the rays, there is a risk of blindness. Therefore, the star could not be seen from the surface.
The land at landing was more distinct than the Sun, it was almost at the zenith. Two colors predominated: blue and white (due to water and clouds, respectively). Despite its small size, the astronauts noted that it was a very colorful sight.
A person's stay on the moon
Neil Armstrong on the Moon spent more than 2 hours. During this time, he managed to test many of the movements that a person often performs on Earth. Difficulties were created because of a spacesuit, as he was supplied with a knapsack, so the center of gravity shifted.
To make a few steps on the moon, you need to make a lot more effort. I had to "accelerate". The stops after walking did not turn out right away. It was necessary to take several steps before completely stopping the movement.
Falls did not cause discomfort. It was quite possible to climb after them. During the fall, the speed slows down again due to a small attraction.
Despite the fact that Neil Armstrong - an astronaut who died in old age, his feat was remembered by mankind for many years, his name will sound for centuries. A team of engineers and scientists, as well as the captain of the Apollo 11, together with their crew, performed the impossible, they proved that the conquest of the cosmos is quite possible with the modern technical achievements of mankind.
