Nail fungus: clinical signs and therapy

Nail fungus can "poison" life to everyone. He causes special discomfort if he settles on the skin of the foot and on the nail plates. This pathology breaks the structure of the nails, they crack and crumble. As a rule, the disease first manifests itself on the skin of the feet in the area of interdigital folds. In the affected area, the skin is peeling, itching and burning. After that, there are bubbles that burst, forming ulcers and cracks. If you do not produce treatment, the fungus spreads to the nails, where it continues to grow and multiply. Over time, the plate is stratified. Sometimes the nail fungus affects even internal organs.

Symptoms of the disease depend on the type of fungus, the degree and depth of the lesion. When the nail plate is damaged by dermatophytes, yellow spots appear on its surface. On the upper limbs, the spots have a lighter shade. Often the process is complicated by a bacterial infection, sometimes a suppuration is recorded. Cross grooves on the nail plate appear as a result of dystrophic processes in the tissues.

Nail fungus can cause onychomycosis only against the background of the already existing nail dystrophy, which has arisen because of other diseases. In this case, the color of the nail plate changes, it can be green, yellow, blue, black or brown, but the lesions remain superficial. Even in this case, it is not worthwhile diagnosing yourself, since a whole group of mycoses can cause damage to the nail. If you find yourself in this pathology, do not expect that the ailment itself will disappear. Onychomycosis often provokes the development of allergic reactions, weakens immunity, exacerbates chronic diseases. Therefore, the most optimal solution in this situation is an appeal to a dermatologist or a mycologist.

The doctor will make a visual inspection, assess the thickness of the lesion and the structure of the nail plate, make the necessary scrapings for microbiological analysis. An experienced specialist will prescribe adequate treatment. The therapeutic scheme depends on the localization of the pathological process, the shape of the lesion, the speed of nail growth, the presence of concomitant diseases, etc. To date, for the treatment of onychomycosis, high-performance drugs of local (local) and general action are used.

Nail fungus: treatment

With minor damage to the nail plate are limited to local treatment. To do this, antimycotic preparations of a wide spectrum of action are used in the form of a solution or ointment. So, how to treat the nail fungus? For effective treatment, special preparation (soap-soda baths) of the nail plate is necessary. After softening the horny layers, the nail plates are processed with the help of nail tweezers. For the treatment of affected areas use the following means: "Lamisil", "Kanison", "Mycospores", "Exoderil", "Nizoral".

At the initial stages of the disease can be used antifungal varnishes: "Batrafen" (cyclopyroxolamine), "Loceril" (amorolfin), "Lotsirilom." If the fungus affects the nail plates on the upper limbs, the treatment lasts up to six months, on the lower limbs - up to a year.

In those cases where local therapy is ineffective, antimycotic drugs of general action are prescribed. These funds are taken internally. Such pharmaceuticals include "Lamisil" and its analogues "Fungoterbine", "Exifin", "Onihon", "Terbizil"), "Nizoral" and its analogue "Mycosoril", "Orungal" and its analogues ("Rumikoz" And "Irunin"), "Diflucan" (Forkan, Mikomaks, Flukostat, Mycosyst). The presented agents can be used together with antimycotic lacquers.
