Mosaic glass in the home interior

Mosaic is one of the most ancient finishing materials. This word from the Latin language translates as "a work dedicated to the museum." It was made mainly from colored stones, pieces of ceramics or smalt. Mosaic glass was very expensive material. To design their homes, it could only buy the richest people in society. The original panels from small, colorful pieces of glass were decorated with temples, palaces, fountains.

And now, an interesting and stylish decor for a home interior can serve as a mosaic. The glass, from which it is made, has now become cheaper. Therefore, glass mosaic is now available to almost everyone. Glass has many advantages over other materials. It is very durable, resistant to chemical influences, does not leak and does not absorb water, is resistant to large temperature changes and ultraviolet radiation, is characterized by heat resistance and frost resistance. Glass can withstand up to 100 cycles of transition from positive to minus temperatures (down to -30 degrees), without losing its quality.

Mosaic glass is much stronger than glass itself, although they are the same in chemical composition. It depends on two reasons. First, by pouring a glass mass into shapes, it is baked at a high temperature - up to 800 degrees Celsius. Secondly, because of the small size of the module for the mosaic, it is very difficult to break it.

Glass mosaic is very resistant to the effects of microorganisms and synthetic detergents. Thanks to its solid structure, it is perfectly cleaned from all contaminants.

Mosaic glass is great for wall covering in bathrooms and kitchens, in pools and saunas, that is, where there is frequent contact with water. It is also used to decorate stoves and fireplaces, furniture and facades of buildings.

Decorate your house with glass mosaic will not be very difficult. Even an amateur can easily cope with this task. First you need to buy glass for mosaic. In stores, glass is sold 1 × 1, 2 × 2, 5 × 5 centimeters and a thickness of 3 to 12 millimeters square or diamond-shaped. Its color scheme is very diverse, so you can choose any to your taste. Such glass, or rather, chips, is transparent, colorless and colorless, opaque and glossy, and also with a special coating that changes color when changing the angle of the mosaic inspection ("chameleon"). Before you start laying out the mosaic, you need to come up with a drawing. It can be painted directly on a wall or other object, which is planned to decorate. Attach the chips with special glue, in which the composition for the primer is added. The laying of the mosaic resembles the process of installing a conventional ceramic tile. 24 hours after laying, when the glue dries, grout is made. The mortar for grouting is applied with a rubber spatula. Excess solution and unevenness are removed with the same spatula. After complete drying with a sponge, the remains of the grout are washed and the mosaic is washed. Now it will get a complete look.

When creating a mosaic decoration, show all your imagination and taste, and then the mosaic made of glass will bring a lot of joy and good mood.
