How to sew an envelope for a newborn with your own hands

If in a short time you expect the birth of a baby, then it's time to think about dress clothes for discharge from the hospital. For this purpose, an envelope for a newborn, with its own hands sewn and decorated with decorative details, is perfect. A little imagination, patience and initial sewing skills will be enough.

To begin with, you need to decide what this item will be for. It will be required only for a solemn meeting from the hospital, or you will use it for daily walks. A big role is played by the time of the year and the climatic conditions of your area at the time of the birth of the baby. If you are discharged in the summer, then sew an envelope for the newborn with your own hands, using lace and lightweight fabrics (satin, sewing, lace cloth). When you are born in winter, always insulate the product with sintepon or fur. And if in your area often precipitates in the form of wet snow and rain, take care of the water-repellent fabric for the top.

For its construction we use only two values: the length of the envelope will be 130 centimeters, and the width - 80. Take a sheet of Whatman and draw on it a rectangle with dimensions of 130x40 centimeters. Now divide it into three parts, starting from the top. For the cushion is enough 30 centimeters. The mattress and the upper blanket will go 50 centimeters. In the middle part (to the mattress), on the right side, draw another rectangle 50x40 centimeters. This is the topmost decorative item. We leave the cushion with straight angles or make a semicircle, if desired.

Envelope for the newborn with their own hands will be sewn from satin and cotton sewing, with lace, satin ribbon of the right color and with a gasket of synthepone. We cut out one piece from satin, sewing and sintepon. Sewing and sintepon are connected and quilted in random order. On the front side of sewing lace is applied, making equal sections, and we add it, laying beautiful folds, on the cushion and side detail. Now we add the inside sides of the details from satin and sewing. We connect them along the contour, having deviated from the edge by one centimeter, leaving a small area open.

We turn the envelope on the front side and sew the unclosed piece manually. Lay out the finished base on the table by sewing up. We have turned the letter "T" on its side. We throw up the bottom of the blanket. Top with a side panel. Sew the split zipper on the side of the envelope. With its help we will fix the side detail.

If you prefer the option with bows in the middle, then when designing the pattern, provide not one large side detail, but two smaller ones. In this case, you first cover the baby with a bottom blanket, and then smell the side details and fix them with satin ribbons, tied three bows at the same distance from each other. In this version, the decorative lace is sewn around the entire envelope, except for the lower blanket. Using a white satin for sewing, decorate it with a red or blue ribbon.
