Mario brothers: character Luigi

All generations of gamers are familiar with the game about the plotters Mario saving the princess. And it seems to many that the youngest of them, Luigi, will permanently live in the shadow of his older brother. His way can be seen from the very first appearance in the role of a secondary hero of the game. The character of Luigi is an absolute copy of Mario, but with a completely inverted color scheme. Other distinctive features are completely absent. Even in the case when they played the main role in the commercial of the game for home consoles, it was only confirmed that the character is very timid in nature.

The next serious game project, in which the younger brother was present, was "Super Mario." In it, he went into the shade even deeper than before. As in the last part, he was only a secondary character and did not even take part in the adventures with Mario. Rather, the situation was such that the character of Luigi had his own mission - to save the poor princess of the Mushroom country, but only in the case when the elder brother was fiasco. And when the player who controls Mario is very clever and has played for a long time, then it's simply not possible to get to Luigi.

Exit from the shadow

After the continuation of the game series, Luigi finally became more successful, as the developer decided to turn the younger of the plumber brothers into a full-fledged character. The Japanese version of the Super Mario-2 game did not have a mode for two players. But there was a choice between Mario and Luigi. The character who is the eldest of the brothers did not differ much from his old prototypes, and the youngest was given a very strong leap. This ability allowed him to get to places that Mario had never even dreamed of. True, everything has to be paid for. And it affected the management of Luigi. It was more difficult than for Mario, it was very difficult to stop after dispersal, and narrow platforms, as well as collisions with minor enemies, were fraught with a decent threat.

New look

The game version for the American continent gave Luigi further stages of development. Here he, as before, was endowed with an amazing leap, which is much stronger than that of the princess herself. But many did not pay attention to this, because the princess had the additional ability to soar in the air. But Luigi had something to boast about, for he had an individuality in his appearance. This did not happen immediately. On promo-pictures, he was portrayed by another, but in the games themselves there was no new appearance. In all projects, he looked exactly the same as the older brother - Mario, only in a green suit.

There was a new game, but already in the genre of RPG-adventure. There seemed to be every chance for Luigi to flash. But where there! Instead, the existence of the character was indicated only by the very last scene where he was at the head of the parade. It was only a few seconds. And that's all. Another confirmation of his presence in the game was the desire that was made on Star Hill. And it fully reflected the essence of the not very pleasant fate of the younger brother: he wanted to become such a wonderful plumber as his older brother.

Hope for the main role

Later, at the beginning of zero, the company "Nintendo" launched a new console without games about the brothers. And the next part came out later, after the release of the Game Cube console. In it, Luigi was not at all. But then there was a branch where the younger one had already become a full-fledged star of the game. Moreover, the name of the character even bothered to include the name of the project - Luigi's Mansion.

Even this event was not allowed to make Luigi's character become the main character. Then he returned to a secondary position anyway. In one of the games, he helps his older brother in search of the Star, where he gets into trouble, and Mario is forced to save not only the Star, but also Luigi himself. And then, when they give to play for the younger, then in the role of an unsuccessful assistant, it is surprising that the character of Luigi. It is clear that the developers did not replace his model with another hero, which means that he is only second-rate.

But there is an opinion that the creators can still pay tribute to poor Luigi. The character deserved it. Small projects have already begun to appear, where he is gradually being promoted to leading roles in the game. To some large projects come out additions, in which the main only he, not Mario or someone else.

An interesting fact: most know that Luigi is a character in the game. But there is another hero with exactly the same name. This is a small yellow car from a popular animation film. Of course, this is Luigi - the character of "Cars". In the cartoon he sells tires in his shop.
