Kassil, "Conduit and Schwambrania": a summary and main characters

As Lev Kassil recalls, this story began on the day when he and his brother Oskoy were serving their sentence in the corner for the lost chess queen. Figures set were made for the father on request, and he valued them very much.

Country opened in the pantry

In the dark corner of the pantry, the brothers felt like they were in prison.
- And let's run away! - said with hope the younger brother Oska. "Let's get down to it!"
But the older brother Lelka suddenly came up with a bright idea.
"We're not going anywhere!" - he declared. - Let's think of a new game! This will be the land that we discovered: palaces, mountains, palm trees, the sea. There will be our own state, which adults will not know about.

The new land required a beautiful name. Lelka and Osya named the land promised by Schwambrania, by association with Schwab's book "Greek Myths." The letter "M" was added for euphony.

Conduit and Schwambrania. Brief contents of the book

Schwambrania was captured on a self-made map by Oska himself. The form it resembled a human tooth, which the young artist copied from the advertising of a dentist.

The tooth symbolized the wise policy of the new state.
Schwambrania was a continent surrounded by an "akian", waves and "sea". On the mainland there were cities, bays and mountains. Some words with errors, which was justified by the youth of the cartographer. There was also a blot, honestly written under it: "The island does not count, it's blot accidentally."

At the bottom of the map was the island of Piligviniana, with the capital Abroad. For convenience, two inscriptions were inscribed on the "Morya" for the pilots of passing ships: "so along the current" - "and as against".
The map was strikingly symmetrical. This was due to the desire for justice, which the founders of the country dreamed of.

To the left is the "moray" - on the right "morje", here - Argon, and there Drundzonsk. You have - rub, and I - 100 cents. It's called justice!

Further the author tells, that Швамбрания conducted wars. The enemies were called the Caldonians and the Balvons.

The war began as follows: from the front to the king (Lelka) was the postman (Oska) and handed the king a letter with a call from the enemies. The enemies lived on the other side of the "fences" depicted on the map by semicircles. The battles took place on a rectangle marked by the word "war". On both sides of the "war" were placed "captivity", where the captured soldiers were put.

Brechka and Jack, a satellite of sailors

In parallel with the Schwambran battle, Russia also entered the First World War. Schwambrania always emerged victorious from the battles, like tsarist Russia, in school textbooks.

In Schwambrania, Oska and Lelka lived in Drundzonsk, on the last floor of a thousand-story building. And in their hometown of Pokrovsk, under the windows passed a street called the people of Breška.

On her in the evening, guys and girls from the nearest farms strolled. The street was strewn with a peel of sunflower seeds. From the street came scraps of "refined" conversations:
"Permit me to cling to you, young lady!" How do they call you? Masha, chi Katyusha?
- Do not stop ... Duzhe smart! - elegantly answered the rural beauty, spitting the hull from the seeds. - And however, hai tobi Greek, - chipish!

... A lot of cargo ships were going along the Volga, which could not but affect Shvambrania. There also appeared a hero, known as Jack, a companion of sailors. This happened in connection with the booklet purchased in the market. It was an international dictionary for sailors.

As a polyglot, Jack was free to say: "Ken ah, help!" Donner the wind, guten morgen, hello, man overboard, Mom Mia, how much will you take to save the ship? "

This was different from the inhabitants of Brechka, spitting the husks of the street, and could serve as a model of culture for conscious Schwambrians.

First and third class cabins

A lot of amusing moments are described by Lev Kassil in the book "Conduit and Schwambrania". The summary does not allow full immersion in the life of the little heroes, which sometimes resembled a ship.

The passenger cabins were conventionally divided into categories of the first and third class. The first-class cabins were the living room, the father's study and the dining room. The third-class cabins are a cook's room and a kitchen.

From the kitchen porthole, a view of the other world opened. In this world there lived those whom adults called unsuitable acquaintance. Among them were beggars, loaders, chimney sweeps, wipers, locksmiths and firemen. Maybe they were good people, but our heroes were told by adults that they were full of germs.

Naive Oska once asked a question to Levonty Abramkin, the master of pomochnyh affairs:
"Is it true that scarlet feathers crawl over you?"
"What kind of scarlet feathers?" - Offended Levante. "Ordinary cats." And scarlet feathers - I do not remember such animals ...

Oska liked to pull fish out of the aquarium, and then arrange their funeral in matchboxes. One day he brushed his cat's teeth, and she scratched it.

Once, Oska met a priest, whom he thought was a girl, and the priest entered into a religious conversation with him.

Oska was a great confused and constantly confused: cannibals with the Balkans; St. Bernard with actress Sarah Bernhardt, monsters with an erupting volcano.

Trips to the people

Papa Shvambrani worked as a doctor. Sometimes, out of democratic motives, he ordered a wagon with a horse, put on a shirt, and in a coachman's role sat on the box. If the ladies were coming in front, the pope asked Lelka to ask them to give way. Lelka approached and confusedly said: "Aunt, that is, Madame ... dad asks you to move the trolls. And then we'll inadvertently pin down you. "

"This" driving to the people "ended with the fact that the pope once overturned us all into a ditch, and since that time the trips have stopped" (Lev Kassil, "Conduit and Schwambrania").

Russian Ciderella

Once the Schwambrians realized that there was something wrong in life. The main people on this earth were adults, but not all. And only those on which there were expensive fur coats and uniform caps. The rest were entered in the category of inappropriate dating and worked from dawn to dawn. The world is ruled by injustice. This is the main idea of the book "Conduit and Schwambrania", which will briefly describe the main positive and negative characters.

A cousin Mitya, expelled from the gymnasium, came to visit the Schwambrians. Mitya disliked officials and suggested that the zemstvo family be annoyed.

There was a ball-masquerade, and the cute parlourmaid Marfushe was prepared to play the role of an outlawer of Zemsky's peace of mind. For her made a suit in the form of an envelope. On it went postage stamps, which Marfusha collected for many years.

At the ball Marfusha won all the beauty and won a prize: a gold watch. Zemsky chief fell in love with the prelest, but he was informed that Marfusha was a simple servant. Zemsky was disgraced.

To his porch at night, Mitya tied a huge galosh with a note: "To whom the galoshes will be on the foot, that will be the wife of the Zemsky."
All - as in the story of Cinderella ...

Sisari and Conduit

Lelka was admitted to the gymnasium. The gymnasts were called sizars because of the color of their greatcoats. The Sisari were free birds and did not want to obey orders. On the first day Lelka, who came with his mother in a cafe, got into Conduit (or Dove book). This was the name of the magazine, where the director of the gymnasium, nicknamed the Fish's Eye, recorded the penalty box. The cafe was considered a pleasure institution, and the gymnasium students were not allowed to visit such places.

Entries in the conduit were done by the supervisor of the gymnasium, called Tsap-Tsarapich. It was easy to get to the magazine; For an unbuttoned overcoat and appearance in the city after seven in the evening; For visiting the cinema or wearing a shirt-embroidered.

The gymnasium was full of fun. The Sisari, mostly the children of the farmers, fought, smoked in the toilet and fooled the teachers. They came up with clever instruments for transferring cheat sheets from neighboring classes. Young hooligans mooed, burned phosphorus for stench - all in order to frustrate the lesson.

The only one who liked schoolboys was the tongue inspector Romashov, who brought up the censors with tedious suggestions. After his lectures, many lost the desire to hooliganize, recalls the author of the work "Conduit and Schwambrania."

The heroes of the book passed the everyday life of the old grammar school. Among the most striking figures of the book stood Athos Recruit, the hero of the shalman, a man who repaired electric bells and adored literature.

Shalman, as he was nicknamed by the townspeople, was a haven of the poor. He was near meat rows in the bazaar. It dragged on the miserable existence of Chinese chin Chi Sun-cha, sewer Levonty Abramkin, German organ-grinder Gersht, thieves Krivopatrya and Shebarsha and a small sales agent Iosif Pukis. In the shalman read books and schoolboys felt like adults, equal among equals ...

This is remembered by Lev Kassil. "Conduit and Schwambrania" (the summary of the book can not convey this fully) describes the life of the common people. This description will introduce young readers to life, which for many will be a real discovery.

Tarakanius and Matryona

Director Fish Eye because of the fight in the People's Garden banned celebrations. The pupils of the gymnasium rebelled and, in protest, cut off all the city calls at the ceremonial. The Athos Recruit, who earned a good job on this, was very pleased.

The police were looking for mysterious hooligans. Stepan Gavry, nicknamed Atlantis, was captured, and Bindyug, who enjoyed authority because of his powerful fists. They, and with them, six more Cesairs, who participated in this case, were expelled from the gymnasium. And only after the intervention of Joseph Pukis offenders restored.

I remember the teacher named Tarakanius, or Longstroke. He taught Latin and dumped to the right and left the deuce. There was still a touchy teacher-Frenchwoman Matryona Martynovna. She did not bother the schoolgirls much, she hated her stern sisaris in her own way, but still ruthlessly and cruelly played at the lessons.

The echo of the war came to Pokrovsk. The townspeople met the wounded who had returned from the front. Approaching the year 1917. About these historical events narrates L. Kassil ("Conduit and Schwambrania"). The main characters of the book are eyewitnesses of the Russian revolution.

On December 31, parents of Lelka and Ossi went to see the friends to celebrate the New Year. A classmate came to Lelka, and they went for a walk. On trouble, they got a horse harness of a local millionaire. The gymnasts decided to take a ride. The horse, smelling the strangers, carried the kidnappers through the deserted streets. The frightened schoolboys could not stop him. As luck would have it, Tsap-Tsarapich met them.

Seeing the guard, the horse stopped. Tsap-Tsarapych promised the cesars to write them in a conduit and leave without dinner. After that, he sat on the box to return the stolen vehicle to the owner. The animal, not seeing the difference between the kidnappers, rushed to a gallop, and the owner of the vehicle left the house and called the police.

It is not known how Zap-Tsarapich was justified in the police, but he did not remember about this incident.

The Departure of Atlantis

Suddenly, Stepan Atlantis disappeared. As it turned out - fled to the front. The former teachers were dispersed, and instead of the gymnasium, a Unified Labor School was created with the joint education of girls and boys.

The delegation of gymnasium students went to the girls' gymnasium to select the most beautiful girls for the class. They were immediately given the nicknames: Bamboo, Lulya-Pilyul, Ogloblya and Blot. With the advent of girls in the gymnasium, they began to play "peepers". The game consisted of looking at the interlocutor for hours. Blinking was not allowed. There were times when it came to fainting.

In Russia there was a revolution, the tsar abdicated. Schwambrania, accordingly, also reacted unrest. After a long and deep doubt, Jack, Sputnik of the Mariners, passed away. His last words were: "Farm is a car! Stop the car! He also drove a ... "A golden anchor was hoisted on the grave of the hero, instead of wreaths, it was decorated with lifebuoys.

"Science knows a lot of guitars," says L. Kassil. This is the book "Conduit and Schwambrania", whose author is able to talk funny and tragic about simple things.

Conclusion

The red commissioner Chubarkov was placed in the apartment. He taught Osku a game in blasting-chopping. The game was carried away by Dad. The players had hands red from slaps.

Aunt-relatives came to visit, who started to educate Oska and Lelka and take them to the theater.

In one room, the military settled, La Bazri de Bazan, and another room was occupied by a commission to combat deserters. The pope was taken to the front. The Marquis de Bazan, as his aunts called him, stole the soap hidden by his mother in the piano, but after the Cheka was summoned, there was a soap. And along with the soap, the missing maps of Schwambrania. When the chekists saw the maps of the new state, they laughed until they fell.

The Schwambrians were found in the abandoned house of the alchemist Kirikov, who cooked the elixir of life. Then it turned out that this is an ordinary moonshine.

Dad came back from the front. He had typhus. He looked thin and yellow and lice crawled over his beard.

The country of Dreams bored our heroes. Harsh everyday life pushed aside the fictitious state, in which Kassil, conduit, was never used. And Schwambrania, readers' reviews about which sound enthusiastic, will forever be remembered by those who read this book.

House Ugrya, where Lelka and Oska played, were dismantled for firewood. Schwambrania ceased to exist.

L. Kassil wrote about these events. "Conduit and Schwambrania" - a story about unforgettable times - became the most famous book of his works.
