Fisheye in Photoshop

Photoshop - a powerful raster editor, in which you can apply a variety of effects to photos. At the same time they will look very interesting and original. Having this application on your computer, you can do anything with images - resize, distort, apply filters, stylize to pictures, etc. One of the most popular effects among Photoshop fans is the "fish eye" effect, which can be done in a few clicks.

Creating an effect by transforming

So, open the desired photo in Photoshop. In the layers palette, we see the Background layer, which means "background". Do it with two clicks, by clicking on the left mouse button. As a result, the padlock shown next to it will disappear, and the layer will open for editing. You can just copy the background. Then you can later compare the original photo and the result. Now let's start actually creating the "fish eye" effect. It is best to make a photo square, then the finished result will look more interesting. Take the tool Croop Tool (cropping) and set the number of pixels in the settings on the top panel to the small side of your image. Now we take a photo of the Croop Tool, move the resulting frame to the center of the photo or to another place of your choice, and press Enter. Our image is ready to quickly create an original fish-eye effect in Photoshop.

Go to the Edit menu and select the item Transform, the sub-item Warp (deformation). In the photo there will be a grid, dividing it into 9 parts. Again, go to the top panel, in the drop-down menu we find the line Fisheye ("fisheye"). Click on it and see the distortion of the fisheye in the image. In Photoshop, this distortion is included in the standard set. If you pull beyond the point on the upper side of the center of the grid, the effect can be strengthened, weakened, or even reversed. Compare the result with the source can be very simple. On the layers palette, click on the "eye" next to the working layer. This will open the background image, the initial image. Thus, turning on and off the top layer, you will very clearly see all the changes that have occurred with the photo. Having thus chosen the most interesting option, save the photo in the desired folder.

Creating an effect with a filter

The same effect can be achieved using the Flexify 2 filter. This plug-in is quite complex for perception, but the "fisheye" is such a simple distortion that it is not difficult to make it. Open the photo in the program and run the plugin. In the standard set of Photoshop it is not included, so you have to first look it up on the Internet.

We set the following settings:

  • Background color - black;
  • Input - polar.

Click ok. We admire the finished result. Save the photo.

As you can see, in order to achieve such an interesting effect as a "fisheye", it is absolutely not necessary to buy expensive equipment. It is enough to open Photoshop. If you do not have this program, be sure to download and install it. Working with images in this application is extraordinarily fascinating.
