Ivan Shamyakin: biography and creativity

Ivan Petrovich Shamyakin is the pride of Belarus, a famous writer who lived the life of a successful man. His first novel was awarded the Stalin Prize, and most of the works, the theme of which was the Great Patriotic War, was filmed.

Biography of Ivan Shamyakin

The Belarusian writer - a native of a poor peasant family - was born on January 30, 1921. His village Korma (Gomel province) was located on the border of states: Belarus, Ukraine and Russia. The beauty of the native land and the knowledge of the three languages that the boy heard from childhood, contributed to the development of the literary talent of the future writer.

The first poetic lines, Ivan began to write while studying in the Gomel technical school of building materials. Also during this period he took part in the meetings of the literary association in the city newspaper. In 1940, after graduation, he married. His chosen one was Maria Filatovna, with whom the writer was familiar with the fifth grade. A happy marriage lasted 58 years. His wife, who left this world before him, Ivan Petrovich dedicated the work "Unique Spring" and "Glory, Maria."

After the marriage, Ivan Shamyakin got a job as a technologist at a brick factory, then was drafted into the army, from where he was sent to serve in Murmansk. There, the war caught the young man.

Military years

In the war years Ivan Shamyakin was the commander of the gun crew, took part in the battles near Murmansk, which mercilessly bombed enemy aircraft. Among the soldiers, the young Belarusian was distinguished by his cheerful disposition; He was an interesting storyteller, who listened with pleasure to the fighters. To the authorities Shamyakin compiled reports, was engaged in the production of wall newspapers, combat leaflets. In 1941 he wrote and published his first story "In the Snowy Desert" (in Belarusian), dedicated to the battles with the German fascist invaders in the North, where he fought at the beginning of the war. The printed debut occurred during the war period in the newspaper Sentinel Severa. Further on the front line was Poland, then Germany. Ivan Shamyakin met the Great Victory on the Oder.

Postwar peace time

After the war, Ivan returned to his native land - the village of Prokopovka Terekhovsky district - and settled himself as a teacher of language and literature in high school. In the evenings he conducted seminars of agitators on the collective farm, and at night wrote stories and stories about the last war. In the same period, he entered in absentia in the pedagogical institute of the city of Gomel. In 1946, on the pages of the magazine Polymya, the light saw the story "Pomsta", which tells about the humanism of Russian soldiers.

The first novel, Deep Current, was highly appreciated by readers, raising the theme of guerrilla warfare in the war years. This novel in 1951 was awarded the State Prize of the USSR. Further, Krinitsa and Good Luck were published, which tell of the collective life in the difficult period of the restoration of the national economy, destroyed by the ruthless war. In every work of Shamyakin, even if the narrative is about modern life, there are events of the past war, of which the author can not remain silent. So, entirely devoted to the war cycle of books, largely autobiographical and united by the title "Anxious Happiness". It included five novellas: "Bridge", "Fire and Snow", "Unique spring", "In search of a meeting", "Night lightning".

In 1975, the publication of the story "The Wedding Night", in 1976 - "Trade and poet", in the late 70's the reader got acquainted with the novel "Atlantes and Caryatids". The subject of military duty, the struggle of the Belarusian partisans, heroism in the war years are devoted to the novels "I'll take your pain", "Snowy winters", "Heart in the palm of your hand".

Achievements of the Belarusian writer

For more than 60-year-old creative path from the writer's pen came out about 130 books with a total circulation of more than 25 million copies. Literary creativity of the writer was actively combined with his social and political activities. He was the secretary of the party organization of the Belarusian Writers' Union, the editor-in-chief of the Belarusian Soviet Encyclopedia, the academician of the International Slavic Academy of Sciences, Education, Art and Culture, and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He was a deputy of several convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR and the BSSR.

Ivan Shamyakin died (photos of the last years of life can be seen above) October 14, 2004; The cause of death is a strong longing for a six-year-old spouse. In honor of the Belarusian writer, one of the streets of the capital of Belarus was renamed. On the facade of the house in Minsk, where Ivan Shamyakin lived for 37 years, a memorial plaque is installed ; His name was given to the Mozyr State Pedagogical University.
