In which countries are gay marriage permitted?

In a society, the problems of sexual minorities do not always resonate. As a rule, gays and lesbians meet anger and hatred, they are blamed and rejected by the church, referring to the Bible and the Epistles of the Apostle Paul. And yet, in many countries gay marriage is permitted, although there are certain nuances.

If you recall the Ancient Greece and Rome, as well as medieval Japan, it can be noted that at that time same-sex relationships were considered the highest form of love. The love between the teacher and the student was also recognized as the norm. But with the advent of Christianity, moral values and worldview have changed. Now the close relationship between same-sex couples has become a serious sin.

The modern world, where human rights are promoted , tolerance and democracy try to follow the way of legalizing marriages among people of the same sex. Not all countries have so far decided on such a step, but their number is quite impressive. Here is a list of countries in which same-sex marriages are allowed : Denmark, Sweden, Norway, France, Great Britain, Holland, Finland. And also: Iceland, Ireland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Croatia, Switzerland, New Zealand, Argentina, Canada, Spain, Luxembourg, South Africa. Representatives of sex minorities have not yet received the right to formally recognize their relations in Russia. For example, the Russian Orthodox Church considers such ties sinful, and the issue of allowing marriages for gays and lesbians in our country causes a storm of contradictory responses. Together with sympathetic there are also frankly hostile statements. The issue was repeatedly raised and discussed in the media, especially on the Internet.

The view of marriage has always been unequivocal: it is a union of a man and a woman. The same-sex relationship never had the right to be considered legitimate and illuminated by religious rites for the creation of a family. Even in ancient Rome, where relations between men were not openly condemned, they adhered to a completely traditional marriage. It is widely known in which countries same-sex marriages are allowed now, but discussions around this issue continue. In Russia, opponents of such unions consider the claims of sexual minorities to create a family absurd. But the concept of marriage undergoes serious changes, and the question of resolving same-sex unions stands by itself.

As an argument against same-sex marriage, homosexual partners are accused of total infidelity. Their demands for recognition of their relationship as a marriage are aimed at equalizing their rights with traditional families. Based on common sense, a family consisting of a man and a woman should bring up children. When recognizing same-sex marriages, questions arise not only about the moral plan, but also about the legal issues related to obtaining an inheritance, raising children and the right to adopt.

We have listed in which countries homosexual marriages are allowed. But not everywhere there is the possibility of their registration. It has only Belgium, the Netherlands, Iceland, Spain, Sweden, Canada, Portugal, South Africa, Argentina, Norway. In many European countries, rejection of gays and lesbians is considered a crime, and the case of their insult can reach the court. In Russia the situation is reversed. Representatives of sex minorities are forced to defend themselves.

In addition to Europe, same-sex marriages in the United States are allowed, but in this country such legislation appeared relatively recently and concerns only individual states. For example, such as Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, Maryland, New Hampshire, Washington, as well as the District of Columbia and several territories belonging to Indian tribes under their jurisdiction: Suquamish and Coquille. In one state - Rhode Island, although same-sex marriages are not registered, but those recognized in other states and countries are recognized. In the remaining thirty-nine states, same-sex unions are prohibited.

Knowing in what countries homosexual marriages are allowed, representatives of sex minorities can register their relationship. For Russia, this problem remains an open discussion issue, and such marriages are not considered valid.
