Immediate and spontaneous. What is it and how does it develop in itself?

Very often we use the word "spontaneity" in our speech. What is it from the psychological point of view, what is characteristic of it and to whom it is peculiar? Let's try to understand these terms now, and also to get acquainted with them on real examples. Perhaps someone will discover this quality in themselves or in their loved ones.

The general formulation of this definition

Spontaneous behavior means that a person does only what he wants at a particular moment in time, and nothing more. This is characteristic of animals and children, which is why we all admire both. With age, such a "sharpness" and momentary behavior goes away, and advance planning, submission to the schedule (one's own or another's) comes to replace it, and this, according to psychologists, destroys us as individuals. They compare the extinction of spontaneity with the psychopathology of everyday life, and this term is used here not in the medical sense, but more in the social. That is why it is important in the mature years to "remember" how you felt good in childhood, when your feelings and actions were guided by spontaneity. That this was the most accurate and correct display of yourself and your inner world, not tarnished by social principles.

How and why is spontaneity suppressed

At a very young age, our parents and kindergarten teachers teach us what is good and what is bad. We are forbidden to be late, malnourished porridge, forced to tidy up beds and wear specific things that we often do not like. At the same time, the slightest disobedience on the part of the child is punished in every possible way, and this, in turn, leads to the development of fear. It is this fear that stops us in the development of that very true person, due to the fact that it blocks spontaneity. That it is bad, and that it is impossible to educate children like that, doctors have not learned so long ago. However, there are many nuances in this matter, since each of us is a part of society where rules and principles prevail, and if everyone fulfills their momentary whims, the world will go mad. However, this is philosophical reasoning, and now we will try to become a bit more free ourselves, based on what is available.

Drop the frame of society

Think for a moment that all the prohibitions that revolve in the mind of each person have to do with his childhood. Now you are a full-fledged adult personality, therefore, you can safely forget about them. We are concerned about what others will say if we do this or that act, since in childhood we were frightened by the fear of being ashamed, due to which spontaneity was blocked. What is this, if not the pathology that prevents us from living? With absolute certainty it can be said that absolutely all people do not care what you do and how you behave. Any crazy act committed by you in a public place will only turn you to a momentary attention, but in a few minutes all of this, including you, will be forgotten. Therefore, behave more freely, do not limit yourself to childhood, remember that we live only once.

Learning to be free

The development of spontaneity in adulthood can take place in various ways, and it depends on the characteristics of your psyche. Someone independently, having read this material, will think about the fact that he is already free, and will finally do what he did not previously decide. Other people may not be as strong, and they will need the help of a professional in order to open up. In any case, one must remember that there is a spontaneity of the subconscious, spontaneity of consciousness and spontaneity of behavior. Each subsequent term follows from the previous one, therefore, having adjusted all your thoughts, allowing yourself to be yourself, you will become another person. And, most likely, your whole life will be transformed, and maybe it will change radically.
