Formal and informal positive sanction

Either way, each of us depends on the society in which it exists. Of course, this is not manifested in the complete conformity of certain individuals, because everyone has his own opinion and view of this or that question. However, very often the public is able to influence the behavior of the person, to shape and change her attitude to her own actions. This phenomenon is characterized by the possibility of those or other representatives of the society to react to something through sanctions.

They can be very different: positive and negative, formal and informal, legal and moral, and so on. In many respects it depends on what exactly is the act of the individual.

For example, for many of us, the most pleasant is an informal positive sanction. What is its essence? First of all, it should be said that both informal sanctions and formal ones can be positive. The former take place, for example, in the place of work of a person. One can give the following example: an office worker concluded several profitable transactions - the authorities issued a letter for this, promoted him and raised his salary. This fact was captured in certain documents, that is, officially. Therefore, in this case we see a formal positive sanction.

Actually, an informal positive sanction

However, in addition to official approval by the authorities (or the state), a person will receive praise from his colleagues, friends, relatives. This will manifest itself in verbal approval, shaking hands, embraces and so on. Thus, from the side of the society an informal positive sanction will be given. It does not find material manifestation, but for most of the individuals it is more significant than even an increase in wages.

There are a huge number of situations in which informal positive sanctions can be applied. Examples will be given later.

1. The young man translated the old woman across the road. He received praise and approval from both the elderly woman and passers-by. He will hear thanks in his address.
2. The girl lost in the bus to the veteran of the war. An informal positive sanction will be manifested in verbal gratitude and a wish for happiness.
3. The boy removed the kitten from the tree. The owners of the animal not only praise him, but also report a good deed to his parents. At the same time, both of them, most likely, will treat the child with tea and cake, which will also be an informal sanction (despite the material manifestation of the approval of his deed).

Thus, it can be seen that this kind of encouragement of the actions of an individual is most often manifested in simple everyday situations.

However, as in the case of wage increases, formal positive sanctions can coexist with informal ones. For example, a person received a medal for courage during the fighting. Along with the official praise from the state, he will receive approval from others, universal respect and respect.

So, we can say that formal and informal positive sanctions can be applied to the same act.
