1. First you need to determine the size and draw a pattern on the cardboard sheet. It should contain the front and back parts that are cut together, a valve that can be a continuation of the rear half or a separate piece, two side inserts for giving the purse a volume. In accordance with the size, buy the necessary amount of basic fabric, lining and dense gasket (glue or conventional).

2. Before sewing a clutch, we transfer the made pattern to the main fabric and cut it out, leaving the allowances on the seams. Precisely the same parts are cut from the lining fabric and the gasket. With a hot iron, glue the adhesive backing to the wrong side of the main fabric. If there is no glue layer, then we take it along the edges along the entire perimeter of the main part, as well as the valve and the side panels.

3. How to sew a clutch on a sewing machine? We lay the part by laying it up, fold it in a pattern with an envelope, we sweep the side details, which must be in the form of a drop (expand and round off from the bottom and have a sharp tip from above) and stitch along the lateral seams. Then we do the same with the details of the lining fabric.

4. Before sewing the clutch further, we smooth the seams on the lining details, and do not touch the side seams on the top part (they can be stitched along the face close to the edge for greater relief). We turn out the main fabric on the face, put a lining in the purse and take it along the upper cut and the cut of the whole-valve, bending the edges inwards by the amount of the allowance. With a careful, even stitch, we pour out the upper cut of the bag and the valve.

5. How to sew a clutch with a valve as a separate part? This part is connected with the lining, we spread it from three sides, we turn it out, then, bending the edges of the fourth side, lightly mowing along the corners, we look to the back of the bag and stitch it in two lines. After that, sew the side details of the clutch.
