Openwork napkin crochet: a decorative element outside of time

Modern designers do not get tired of improving such a habit familiar to many knitters, like a delicate napkin crochet. Despite the centuries-old history of these small decorative elements, their intricate patterns still can surprise even experienced knitters.

Simple wipes

Beginner craftsmen, as well as those knitters for whom the novelty and originality of the pattern are not of great value, often choose to work simple openwork napkins crochet. Schemes and descriptions of such products include the repetition of the same elements and a rather monotonous structure. As a rule, the ornament consists of:

  • Six to twelve major elements (accent);
  • Several continuous rows;
  • Tying in the form of denticles or waves.

Another common component of simple napkins is a mesh (or replacing it openwork patterns). With its help, developers can increase or reduce the size of the napkin. The same technique is used by many skilled workers.

How to reduce or enlarge the napkin?

The photo below shows an interesting and rather simple openwork napkin crochet.
The description of the expansion of the fabric consists in the inclusion of additional rows made with an openwork pattern.

A small napkin, located in the upper left corner of the chart, includes the following elements:

  • Centre;
  • Openwork pattern (4 rows);
  • A strip of even rows;
  • Openwork tying.

To increase its diameter, you must enter additional components. After the first and second stages, another set of even rows is performed, and then a wide strip of six rows of openwork pattern.

The openwork napkin is crocheted with the knitting of the third and fourth stages.

If necessary, to remove some elements from the cloth of the napkin, remove the rows connected by a grid or a simple pattern.

Knitting woven motifs

The following product has an extremely original appearance, and the process of making it is very exciting.

Such an openwork napkin crocheted from six separate circular motifs, which are then joined together into a single cloth. In the diagram the motifs are indicated by numbers 2-7. It is important that all components of the product are of the same size. To do this, you need to carefully monitor the tension of the thread during work and the density of knitting. Different in size flowers will give the product an asymmetrical shape.

Production of the motive

To begin with, you need to link a chain of three air loops (VP). Next, the openwork napkin crochet is knitted as follows:

1) 6 columns without a crochet (RLS);

2) 1 СБН, 8 ВП, connecting column (PS) in the 2nd VP, repeat 5 times;

3) 1 СБН, 1 ВП, under the big arch to knit 1 СБН, 1 полустолбик, 4 columns with накидом (ССН), 2 ВП, 4 ССН, 1 полустолбик, 1 СБН, 1 ВП. Repeat 5 times.

That's all, the motive is ready. It is very simple, actually consists of three rows.

Mixing motifs

When six identical round fragments are ready, you need to link the seventh, which will connect them all into one canvas. This flower begins to knit from the ring of 5 VP, which is carried out 12 S N H. Next, two types of petals are knit: small and large.

Small: 3 VP, with a connecting column an arch of 3 VPs is fixed to the 1st VP, SB N.

Large: 5 VP, hook pass under the arch petals of two motifs and knit another 4 VP, SB N.

Orienting the scheme, you need to link the five petals of each size. As a result, the central part of the napkin will be obtained.

Crochet: openwork napkins. Shutdown

The first circular row of strapping begins at the top of the petal of one of the round motifs. This series must connect the motives from the outside of the circle:

1) 5 VP, SB N, 5 VP, SBN, 5 VP, SBN, 5 VP, column with 2 overlays (C2H), connecting the vertices of the two petals, 5 VP, C2H to the same point, 5 VP, RLS. Repeat the sequence 5 more times;

2) 5 VP, SB H, 5 VP, RLS, 7 VP, RLS, 5 VP, RLS, 5 VP, RLS, 7 VP, RLS. Repeat 5 times;

3) 2 VP, picot of 3 VP, 2 VP, SBN, 5 SSN, 2 picos of 3 VPs, 5 SSNs, SBN. Repeat 11 times.

Correctly executed actions will lead to that all elements of a napkin will lay in one plane. There should be no protruding fragments and turned towards the petals.

Ready-made openwork napkins crochet (schemes and descriptions can be whole or set), you must always wash and steam the iron. Impregnation of the product with starch will only do him good, because in that case the napkin will be better kept in shape.
