How to come up with a puzzle yourself?
The riddle is a brilliant invention of the human mind. It helps to search for and find connections between objects, to show attention to detail, to look at familiar things from a different angle. This tiny task teaches us to think, to feel the language subtly and to better understand the world around us. Most adults are convinced that puzzles are fun for children. However, the brain should be trained at any age - at least for the prevention of senile dementia. How many folk tasks can you remember right away? 10? 20? For sure, it will be the most famous. But there are thousands of mysteries! In addition, you can write them yourself.
How to come up with a riddle? Let's give some advice.
We study
To begin with, we recommend that we accumulate material for observations. To start creating yourself, you need to familiarize yourself with how other authors do it. Grab a collection of puzzles on a long road to the sea or to the country house. Solve them with the whole family, discuss how successful they are, admire popular (or literary) wisdom, successful comparisons.
- The slider crawls, the needles are carrying. (Hedgehog).
- The copper devil got on the table. (Samovar).
- I feed everyone with a hunt, and I myself am uninhabited. (A spoon).
Note that the same thing or phenomenon can be described in completely different ways. For example, a dream.
- And the military, and the voevoda - all fell down.
- What is sweeter than anything in the world?
- Do not knock, do not bryaknet, but to any one fit.
How to think up a riddle-comparison?
To compose a simple problem, you need to learn to find the properties of the object and compare it with these qualities with other objects (phenomena). It is very convenient to fill out a small table.
The sun | |
Which one? | What does it look like? |
roast | On the stove |
Golden | On an apple, dandelion |
Round | On a ball, a wheel, a pebble, a ball, a head |
Vivid | To the fire |
You can combine the data obtained as follows:
Stir-fry like a stove.
Gold, like a dandelion.
Round like a wheel.
Bright as fire.
Try it - it's a fascinating process!
How to come up with a riddle, if an object or phenomenon does not have clear signs? Ask yourself the question: "What can he do? Who else does that? "
Wind | |
What is he doing? | What is it like? |
Howls | On the wolf |
Flies | On a bird |
Decaying trees | On the giant |
Whistles | On Nightingale the Robber |
Here's what happened:
It flies like a bird.
He howls like a wolf.
Sweet as the Nightingale the Robber.
The trees are beating like a giant.
Another option is to use adversative unions and negations:
Flies, but not a bird.
Howling, but not the wolf.
Swish, but not the Nightingale the Robber.
The trees are beating down, but not the giant.
How to think up a riddle "on the contrary"?
We will continue to draw verbal pictures, but in addition to similar features, we will find the characteristic differences of the object or phenomenon under consideration from others. For example, the cloud is white, like cotton wool, but do not take it in hand. The fog is gray, like an old man, but he will not tell a tale. The moon is appetizing, like a cheesecake, but do not bite.
beetle | |||
Which one? | What is it like? | What can he do? | What is the difference? |
winged | On a bird | Yes, without a tail
horned | On the ram | Yes do not care
on the plane | Flies | Yes sits down on the leaves of trees
On the bee | Humming | Do not bite |
Possible variant:
Winged, like a bird, without a tail.
The horned one, like a ram, does not care.
Flies like an airplane, but sits down on the leaves of trees.
It buzzes like a bee, but it does not bite.
Consider the parts and the whole
What kind of riddle is more complicated? Let's bring mathematics to the rescue! Consider the human body. What parts does it consist of? One tongue, lips, one mouth, two eyes, an ear, a pair of hands and feet. How did people reflect this in folklore?
One chatterbox,
Another whistler
And the third one.
Two brothers are sycophants,
And two - hear,
Two runners,
Yes, two brothers are stuck.
And now, on this principle, we come up with riddles ourselves.
A bike | ||
Part names | How many of them? | What do they look like? What is the same? |
wheel | 2 | Ring, plate, drying, saucer, sun |
Helm | 1 | Pitchfork |
saddle | 1 | Camel's hump, chair |
pedal | 2 | Step, stirrup, step |
I myself sit on a chair,
Feet - on the steps,
I grabbed for a pitchfork with my hands.
On two plates, like a rocket, I'm racing.
We gave only a few examples. Of course, most of them are unlikely to ever fall into folklore or author's collections, but we do not pretend to do so. The main thing is that amusing entertainment will be extremely useful both for the kindergartener and for the younger schoolchild. For sure, in the process of playing together with the child you will have your own techniques and artistic findings.
