How is chronic pyelonephritis treated?

Inflammatory kidney disease is a very common problem faced by both adults and children. But the chronic forms of such diseases are very dangerous, as they are accompanied by a gradual change in tissues and a violation of the normal functioning of the excretory system. So is there an effective treatment for chronic pyelonephritis?

Chronic pyelonephritis: causes and symptoms

This disease is accompanied by a chronic inflammatory process, which primarily affects the system of pelvis and calyx. In most cases, this form of the disease develops as a result of improper treatment of the acute stage of inflammation. And before you find out how the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis is being treated, it is worth to learn more about its symptoms.

In fact, the clinical picture is usually a little blurred. Almost all patients complain of heaviness and weak back pain, which is exacerbated during fast walking or exercise. In some cases, rapid urination is noted, especially at night. Body temperature can remain normal - only in some patients it rises from time to time to 38 degrees, and in the evening. Along with this, there is a deterioration in well-being - patients complain of weakness, drowsiness, decreased efficiency.

Pyelonephritis chronic: treatment

Since most often the cause of the inflammatory process is a bacterial infection, then appropriate therapy is needed. It is worth remembering that the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis with antibiotics should be carried out exclusively under the strict supervision of a physician. The fact is that in many cases pathogenic microorganisms are immune to most standard antibacterial agents.

It is for this purpose that a laboratory culture is carried out with further investigation of the pathogen. During such testing, doctors manage not only to determine the nature and variety of microorganisms, but also to study their sensitivity to a particular group of drugs.

Most often the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis with antibiotics lasts about two weeks. Drugs containing penicillin and its derivatives (for example, the preparation "Amoxicillin"), as well as cephalosporins ("Suprax"), and sometimes fluoroquinolones (medicines "Ofloxacin", "Levofloxacin") are considered very effective. After the course of taking antibacterial drugs, repeated studies and analyzes are carried out.

In addition, patients are prescribed medications that normalize normal circulation in the tissues of the kidneys and prevent the stagnation of venous blood. For this purpose, the preparations "Escuzan", "Kurantil" and others are used.

Of course, the treatment of chronic pyelonephritis includes a proper diet. First, in the absence of edema, patients are advised to consume as much fluid as possible (at least three liters per day). The right drinking regime contributes to rapid disintegration of the body. It is necessary to limit the amount of salt in the diet, as well as include in the daily menu fresh fruits and wax (especially useful are watermelons and melons).

Treatment of such a disease can last for months, since eliminating chronic inflammation is not so simple. The decision to discontinue therapy can only be taken by the attending physician after receiving the results of the examination, which would confirm the satisfactory state of the excretory system.
