Noises in the Heart in children and adults

Functional noise.

In the first years of life, the child often has functional heart murmurs. Such noises are harmless, they pass gradually as the child grows and turns into adolescence. Usually, when a child is examined, the doctor warns parents about the presence of functional noises. This is done so that when you contact another doctor, the child's parents can say that they have had it before. At this type of noise, there are no circulatory disturbances that can affect the heart and other organs. When examining the ECG and the chest X-ray, all the parameters correspond to the norm. In newborns and infants, such noises are listened to quite often, they reflect the processes associated with the restructuring of the circulation, occurring in the cardiovascular system with the adaptation of the organism to extrauterine life. However, sometimes there are also heart murmurs in adults. Usually they have almost half of the detected noise make harmless noises.

Pathological noise.

They are often associated with the fact that with congenital heart disease, blood circulation is usually violated to some extent. In some cases, such a pathology, which causes heart murmurs in children, can be diagnosed early, because in the first months of life the child has obvious symptoms - shortness of breath, cyanosis of the skin and developmental lag. However, pathological abnormalities in the work of the heart can often not be diagnosed only by the presence of noise. This does not help to establish the seriousness of the problem that has arisen. It happens that heart murmurs in part of newborns can appear only when the blood circulation is restructured about a month after birth. If the noise increases over time, it indicates an unfavorable phenomenon.

Acquired noise.

As a result of rheumatic attacks in childhood, when scars remain when the heart valves are inflamed, there may be acquired noises in the heart. Valves begin to flow blood, normal blood circulation is disrupted. When the rheumatic process in the child's body there are additional symptoms of the disease: fever, changes in blood test and other phenomena. In such cases, medication is prescribed. If there are no signs of active development of the disease, these noises can arise because of the old scars left after the last attack.

Congenital noises.

Usually caused by congenital heart disease and found in the first months of life or the birth of a child. Most often, they are not explained by an inflammatory process, but indicate that the heart has been formed incorrectly. At the same time, the main danger is not the noise in the heart, but the possibility of the influence of congenital malformation on the normal activity of the cardiovascular system. Such a child needs a close examination and regular supervision by specialists for his state of health.

The detection of noise is a concern because it makes one think first of all about the presence of heart defects. The most common cause of malformation was rheumatism, and vices were considered an incurable disease. But in our time the prevalence of rheumatism has sharply decreased (exceptions are made only by patients with drug addiction). Now the main cause of heart murmurs is a malfunction of the mitral valve. But at a young age, the detection of noise is not uncommon. Here the peculiarity of the nervous regulation, hemodynamics and the structure of the heart valves is affected. If the audible noise is "functional", then it means that there is no structural (organic) cardiac pathology.
