How does the certification of food?

Food products remain for people the substance in which they find a special kind of energy necessary for the stable functioning of the living organism as a whole.

Typology

The edible is divided into the following groups:

  • Vegetable products. This includes vegetables, fruits, as well as cereals, walnut fruits, various herbs, spices.
  • Provision from animal sources is meat of mammals, poultry, fish and fish caviar, various seafood, eggs and milk.
  • Other types of food are organic (regardless of the type of origin): mushrooms, yeast, sweet honey, etc.
  • Inorganic products, including salt and all kinds of food additives.

State control

Certification of food is carried out to confirm their compliance with those norms that are prescribed by Russian legislation. The certificate should be made only for those types of provisions that are listed in the product line, fixed by Government Decision No. 982. Here all the edible units are grouped according to the individual numbers of the OKP (All-Russian Classifier of Products). To issue certificates for food, you need to certify the state registration. This requirement has affected the following groups of provisions:

  • Products intended for children;
  • For sports nutrition;
  • Food for pregnant women;
  • Products using GMOs;
  • Biologically active additives;
  • Organic products;
  • Heterogeneous food additives.

For successful confirmation of sanitary-epidemiological and hygienic safety of other types of food, certification of food implies the mandatory presence of an expert opinion of Rospotrebnadzor.

Creating permissive documentation

Certification of food takes place in several stages. First, the application for the certificate is filled, the following documentation is collected:

  • Constituent business papers;
  • registration certificate;
  • taxpayer number;
  • Technical conditions ;
  • Information about the manufacturer;
  • Catalog of products manufactured by the enterprise;
  • Composition of the product, information on the methods of production;
  • Previously existing certification documents;
  • State expert opinion of Rospotrebnadzor;
  • Forms of laboratory research protocols;
  • Samples of food products.

After studying the documentation, the Certification Authority must send samples of food for a special examination. Further, the special body checks the information provided. Based on the results of the research, he takes a positive or negative decision.

Each document has an individual number. The term of its validity depends on which scheme the certification of food products will take. In general, it is a period of one to three years. If the period of validity of the document exceeds one year, in such a case the issuing authority is obliged annually to carry out scheduled inspection control of the products.
