GVL is moisture resistant. Features of the material and its cost
Decorating the interior walls in the room is always a very sensitive issue, which almost everyone faces when repairing. The choice of materials for such work is great. And everyone has advantages and, unfortunately, disadvantages. One of the mentioned construction materials is waterproof GVL, which finds its use not only in interior decoration of premises, but even in the exterior.
What it is?
Under the notion of "GVL moisture-proof", we mean finishing sheet material. It is made by pressing the building gypsum and loose cellulose fibers. The front and back sides of each sheet are treated with a water repellent, ground and covered with a special impregnation, which prevents chalking. The latter layer protects the coating from damage caused by loss of compound fillers and pigments with a binder component.
Sheets GWL are issued in a rectangular shape. Their longitudinal edges can be straight or folded. The standard size of one sheet is 2500 mm by 1200 mm. However, there are other sizes, it all depends on the manufacturer. Most often - it is 1500 mm by 600 mm. The thickness of the sheet can be 10, 12.5, 15, 18 and 20 mm.
Material Features
On GVL, the moisture-resistant price is higher than for GKL (drywall). This is due to a number of performance characteristics that distinguish it from similar finishing materials. Let's consider the main advantages:
1. Moisture resistance. The processing of sheets with a hydrophobizator makes it possible to achieve that the sheet finishing material tolerates high humidity. Due to this property, water-resistant gypsum board is used in the finishing of bathrooms and similar rooms.
2. Fire resistance. The considered sheet material is made of gypsum, which in itself is a non-combustible substance. All sheets after production pass obligatory certification, according to the results of which they are assigned a class on fire safety. Usually it is T1, D1, B1, G1, which corresponds to practically non-combustible materials that do not support self-combustion and the release of toxic substances. Due to these properties they are used in the arrangement of premises where high fire safety requirements are imposed.
3. Frost resistance. This material is well tolerated by freezing / thawing. It is able to withstand 15 such cycles without loss of quality.
4. High strength. The density of the sheets is 1250 kg / m 3 . Their ultimate bending strength is 5.5 MPa, which is almost twice as large as that of GCR.
5. Uniformity of the composition.
6. High sound insulation. According to this parameter, GVL moisture-proof has an indicator equal to 35 dB, while GCR - only 25 dB.
